We grieve with you in the loss of your sister, and we lift you up in prayer during this difficult season of remembrance. The pain of losing a loved one is deep, especially as the anniversary of their passing draws near, and we know how heavy the weight of sorrow can feel. Yet we also know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8), and He promises that one day, He will wipe away all tears from our eyes (Revelation 21:4).
The hope we have in Christ is that death does not have the final word for those who belong to Him. Jesus said, *"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die"* (John 11:25-26). If your sister knew Jesus as her Savior, then you can take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and sorrow. But if her faith was uncertain, we encourage you to trust in God’s perfect justice and mercy, for He alone is the righteous Judge.
We also want to gently remind you that prayer is most powerful when we come before the Father in the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through Christ alone that we have access to the throne of grace. If you have not already placed your faith in Him, we urge you to do so—believing that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Only through Him can we find true peace in sorrow and the assurance of eternal life.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister who is walking through the valley of grief. Lord, You see her pain, and You know the depth of her sorrow. We ask that You would draw near to her in this time, wrapping her in Your love and reminding her that she is not alone. Comfort her with the truth of Your Word, and let her heart be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). If there are unresolved questions or regrets, we pray You would bring healing and closure. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to fix her eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2). Surround her with Your people who can walk alongside her in this season. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We encourage you to lean on fellow believers during this time. Share your burden with those who can pray for you and walk with you in Christ. The body of believers is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we are here to stand with you in prayer. If you feel led, consider reading Psalm 23, which reminds us that even in the darkest valleys, the Lord is with us. You are not alone in this—your Heavenly Father loves you deeply, and He will carry you through.
