Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your sister has been heard and it is a beautiful expression of love and concern for her. It is right to bring her before the Lord and ask for His covering, His guidance, and His healing over every part of her life.
Scripture teaches that God is our true protection. To ask to be covered by the blood of Jesus is to ask for what Christ has already provided through the cross, where He bore our sins and our infirmities. When we pray for protection from the bottom of the feet to the top of the head, we are asking the Lord Himself to be her shield and to keep evil far from her, to hold her hand and lead her step by step on the right path.
You mentioned temptation and hidden influences that can pull a person toward wrong choices. Temptation is common to all of us. It is not from God, for God does not entice anyone to evil. It comes as a solicitation to turn aside from God's way, often by promising immediate fulfillment if we will take a shortcut and follow the desires of the flesh. In every temptation we face a decision whether to walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. The sin is not in being tempted, even Jesus was tempted and yet without sin, but in yielding to that desire when it is conceived. God is faithful and has promised that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear, but with every temptation He will provide a way of escape so that we can endure it. We need to look for that way and take it. The person who endures temptation in dependence on God is blessed, and the testing of faith in those moments works patience in us as we learn to wait upon the Lord.
For your sister, we pray that the Lord will make that way of escape clear to her, that she will choose to walk in the Spirit rather than the flesh, and that she will know the presence of the Holy Spirit with her continually to guide and strengthen her. We pray that she will be kept from influences that would draw her away and that she will be given wisdom when decisions must be made, for God promises wisdom to all who ask Him.
You also prayed for her healing physically, spiritually, and mentally. The ministry of Jesus was marked by preaching, teaching, and healing every kind of sickness and disease, and the prophet Isaiah foretold that He would bear our infirmities. We believe that all healing is from God. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes gradually, sometimes with a touch and sometimes with a word, and He is not bound to one pattern. There are also times, as with the apostle Paul and his thorn in the flesh, when God in His wisdom does not remove an affliction but gives grace to bear it. We do not always understand why some are healed in one way and others in another, but we can trust His love and His sovereign will. So we bring your sister to Him and ask for His healing touch upon her body, her mind, and her spirit, and for the deep healing of any wounds or scars she carries.
We join you in praying that she will know she is loved and cared for as a child of God, that the Lord is always with her, and that the Holy Spirit will remain with her, comforting her and leading her into all truth.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear sister to You. Place Your hand upon her and keep her from evil. Guard her steps and lead her in Your way. When temptation comes, show her Your way of escape and give her strength to choose what pleases You. Pour out Your healing upon her in body, mind, and spirit according to Your perfect will, and let Your Holy Spirit dwell with her and remind her daily that she belongs to You. Help her to walk closely with You and to find her security and peace in Christ alone. Amen.
