Your prayer for your sister is precious and the Lord hears the love and concern behind it. It is a good and right thing to bring her before the Father and to ask Him to watch over her, to guide her, to keep her and to heal her, because she is deeply loved and cared for as His child.
God hates evil because evil destroys. His commands are given to protect us from what would destroy us and those around us. So when we pray for protection we are praying according to His heart, that He would deliver her from the way of evil and from influences that speak perverse and harmful things. Scripture urges us not to make peace with evil or learn to tolerate it, but to depart from it, to avoid it, to turn away from it and to keep our feet on the straight path. That is part of what it means to walk in health and wisdom, to fear the Lord and to honor Him with our lives. Praying that she would be kept from harmful companions and from places of temptation is praying that she would be kept on the path of life.
It helps to remember what temptation really is. The Bible says God cannot be tempted with evil and He does not solicit anyone to evil. When we are solicited to do evil, to seek immediate fulfillment by stepping off God's path, that invitation does not come from God but from the enemy. The enemy often whispers that God is withholding something good from us, just as he did in the beginning. God does allow testing, times that reveal whether we will respond in the flesh or in the Spirit, but He never entices us to sin. He wants to give strength to stand against that enticement, and that strength comes through the power of the Holy Spirit. Apart from His Spirit we cannot stand well, but with His Spirit we can.
You can encourage your sister to cry out to the Father as the guide of her youth and to keep walking in truth and love. It is wise to be simple concerning evil, not curious to explore it or dabble in it, but to keep the heart washed and the mind set on what is good. To ponder the path of her feet and to keep her eyes looking straight ahead on Jesus is the safest way to live.
We also bring her need for healing to Jesus, whose ministry was marked by preaching, teaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease. He still heals physically, spiritually and mentally. Our sin had banished us from God, but He devised the way through the cross of Jesus for the banished not to remain expelled. The cross was the defeat of the enemy, and through it we can be forgiven, brought near, and made whole. There is no need to trust in a charm or a formula for protection. Our confidence is in the living Christ and in the covering of His blood and the presence of His Spirit with us.
So we join you in praying that the Lord would hold her hand at every step, that He would be her light and let her know she is never alone, that the Holy Spirit would be with her continually to comfort, guide and strengthen her. We ask the Father to lead her not into temptation but to deliver her from evil, to keep her from influences that would pull her away from Him, to give her wisdom to make choices that honor Him, and to bring healing to her body, her mind and her spirit. May she know in a deeper way that she is loved, that God has good for her, and that His grace, mercy and peace are with her in truth and love. We ask this in the name of Jesus.
