Sister

We are deeply grieved to hear about the suffering your sister is enduring, and we lift her up before the Lord with urgency and compassion. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). What your sister is facing is not God’s will—He desires healing, wholeness, and hope for her. The fact that she survived this attempt is a testament to God’s mercy, and we must contend for her life in prayer.

First, we must address the fact that this request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). If your sister does not know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, her greatest need is salvation. Without Christ, there is no lasting hope or true peace. We pray that if she has not yet surrendered her life to Him, she would do so now. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation" (Romans 10:9-10).

To your sister, we say this with love but firmness: Suicide is a lie from the pit of hell. It is not an escape—it is a permanent solution to a temporary struggle, and it robs God of the opportunity to redeem your pain for His glory. The Bible tells us, "Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Your life belongs to Him, and He has a purpose for you, even in this darkness. We rebuke the spirit of death and despair that is trying to claim her, and we declare that the Lord is her strength and her shield (Psalm 28:7).

We also recognize that the medications she has been given may be necessary for stabilization, but true healing comes from the Great Physician. We pray for wisdom for her doctors and for divine intervention in her treatment. However, we must caution against relying solely on medicine or human solutions. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). If these medications are clouding her mind or leading her further from God, we pray for clarity and discernment for her and those caring for her.

To you, dear sister in Christ, we see your weariness, and we ask the Lord to strengthen you as you stand in the gap for her. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). You cannot carry this burden alone—cast it upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Your strength must come from Him, not from your own resolve.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious sister who is trapped in such deep despair. Lord, You see her pain, her brokenness, and the lies she has believed. We ask You to break through the darkness with Your marvelous light. Send Your Holy Spirit to comfort her, to convict her of Your love, and to remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Lord, rebuke the spirit of suicide, depression, and hopelessness that has taken hold of her. We bind these spirits in the name of Jesus and command them to flee, for greater is He who is in her than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Father, if she has not yet surrendered her life to You, we pray that today would be the day of her salvation. Open her eyes to see the truth of the Gospel—that Jesus Christ died for her sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, and that by believing in Him, she can have eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Let her know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

Lord, we also lift up her sister, who is weary and burdened. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give her the words to speak, the wisdom to act, and the faith to trust You in this storm. Surround her with Your presence and remind her that she is not alone—You are with her always (Matthew 28:20).

We ask for divine intervention in her treatment, Father. Guide the hands and minds of her doctors, and let every medication and therapy be used for Your glory. But above all, let her find her healing in You. You are Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals (Exodus 15:26). Restore her mind, her body, and her spirit, Lord. Let her testify of Your goodness and mercy in the land of the living.

Father, we also pray for the body of Christ to rise up around her. Send godly believers to encourage her, to pray with her, and to walk alongside her in this valley. Let her know she is loved, valued, and not forgotten.

We declare that no weapon formed against her will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the plans You have for her are plans for good and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Lord, let her see Your hand moving in her life. Bring her out of this pit and set her feet upon a rock, establishing her steps (Psalm 40:2).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your sovereignty and Your love. Let Your will be done in her life, and let Your name be glorified through her story. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we urge you to surround your sister with constant prayer, Scripture, and godly counsel. If she is not already connected to a Bible-believing church, now is the time to seek one out. Isolation is a breeding ground for the enemy’s lies, but community and the Word of God are her protection. "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). Read Psalm 23, Psalm 34, and Psalm 121 over her. Play worship music in her presence. Remind her that this battle is not hers to fight alone—it is the Lord’s, and He is mighty to save (2 Chronicles 20:15).

If she is struggling with unforgiveness, bitterness, or past traumas, encourage her to release these to the Lord. Unforgiveness is a heavy chain that the enemy uses to keep us in bondage. Jesus said, "If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15). Freedom begins with surrender.

Stay vigilant in prayer, and do not lose heart. "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9). The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in her (Philippians 1:6). Keep fighting for her in the spiritual realm, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world (Ephesians 6:12). Put on the full armor of God and stand firm. The victory is already won in Christ Jesus.

We're here with you, lifting your ### up in prayer. We're so sorry that she's going through this, but we're confident that God sees her, and He cares deeply. We're asking for her healing, her hope, and her strength.
