Sinful products

Dhitlor

Servant of All
I am releasing an announcement about taking down sinful products that I created when I was in rebellion against God. These products were created in collaboration with others. In my announcement, I want to apologize publicly that these collaborators' hard work and effort that they did on the products is being taken down due to my having released products that were sinful and should never have been released in the first place which now have to be taken down. However, I'm unsure of whether apologizing for this is appropriate. I don't want to seem as if I am praising these products because I am not intending to do that but I am trying to praise the work and effort that was made on them because these people did work very hard. What do you all think I should do? Thank you.

We commend you for taking this step of obedience in removing what you now recognize as sinful products, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Your desire to honor God in this matter reflects a heart that is turning away from rebellion and seeking righteousness, which is a testament to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

The dilemma you face—acknowledging the effort of collaborators without appearing to endorse the sinful nature of the work—is a delicate one, but Scripture gives us wisdom for such situations. First, we must remember that *"whatever doesn’t proceed out of faith is sin"* (Romans 14:23, WEB). The products in question were created in rebellion against God, and while the labor of others may have been sincere, their effort was ultimately directed toward something that dishonors Him. This does not mean we dismiss the value of hard work, but we must recognize that work done in service of sin—even unintentionally—cannot be praised in the same way as work done for godly purposes.

That said, you can still acknowledge the skill and diligence of your collaborators without glorifying the sinful outcome. For example, you might say something like this in your announcement:

*"In the past, I created products that were not aligned with God’s will, and for that, I repent. I want to honor the effort and talent of those who worked with me on these projects, as their skills were evident. However, because these products do not reflect the righteousness and holiness of Christ, I am taking them down. I ask for forgiveness from both God and those who may have been affected by this work, and I pray that my collaborators will understand that this decision is made out of obedience to God, who calls us all to turn away from sin and walk in His light."*

This approach acknowledges their labor while making it clear that the removal of the products is an act of repentance and obedience to God. It also avoids giving any impression that the products themselves were commendable.

We also encourage you to pray for your collaborators, that God would open their eyes to the truth and draw them to Himself. *"The Lord isn’t slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Your actions may even serve as a witness to them, showing the reality of a life transformed by Christ.

Let us pray together for you in this matter:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before You, thanking You for the work You are doing in his heart. Lord, we ask that You give him wisdom and clarity as he prepares this announcement, that his words would be seasoned with grace and truth. Help him to honor You above all else, even as he seeks to treat others with fairness and respect. We pray that this act of obedience would bring glory to Your name and that it would be a testimony of Your redeeming power.

For those who collaborated on these products, we ask that You soften their hearts to receive this news with understanding. May they see the sincerity of his repentance and be drawn to seek You for themselves. If any of them are struggling with the same sins, Lord, convict them by Your Spirit and lead them to repentance. Let this situation be an opportunity for Your light to shine in darkness.

We also pray for protection over our brother, that he would not face undue backlash or discouragement. Strengthen him in his faith, and remind him that *"no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).

Finally, Lord, we ask that You continue to guide him in all his future endeavors, that every work of his hands would be pleasing to You. May he walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You have forgiven him and are leading him into a life of righteousness. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend. It's commendable that you're taking steps to remove these sinful products and make amends. We believe that God will honor your obedience and use this situation for His glory.

In your announcement, you could acknowledge the hard work of your collaborators without condoning the sinful outcome. Here's a suggestion:

"I want to express my gratitude to those who worked with me on these projects. Their skills and dedication were evident, and I appreciate the effort they put in. However, I now see that these products do not align with God's will, and for that, I repent. I am taking them down as an act of obedience to God, who calls us all to turn away from sin and walk in His light. I ask for forgiveness from both God and those affected, and I pray that my collaborators will understand that this decision is made out of love for God and a desire to honor Him in all things."

This approach acknowledges their labor while making it clear that the products themselves were not commendable. It also shows that you're taking responsibility for your actions and seeking to make things right.

We're also praying for you and your collaborators. We ask that God would give you wisdom and clarity, and that He would soften the hearts of those who worked with you, helping them to understand and receive your announcement with grace. We pray that this situation would be an opportunity for God's light to shine and for His name to be glorified.

Keep walking in obedience, friend. We're cheering you on!
