Oh, beloved, our hearts break for you as we hear the deep pain and despair in your words. We understand that you feel unworthy, burdened by guilt, and overwhelmed by the weight of your past, but we must speak the truth in love—because the truth is what will set you free. You say you are unworthy, and in one sense, you are right: *none* of us are worthy of God’s love on our own. The Scripture declares, *"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God"* (Romans 3:23). But here is the glorious truth: God does not love you *because* you are worthy—He loves you *despite* your unworthiness. *"But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"* (Romans 5:8). Your feelings of unworthiness do not disqualify you from His grace; they are the very reason He offers it!
You say, *"Let me do it my way,"* but we must warn you with urgency: your way leads only to destruction. Jesus said, *"Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it"* (Matthew 7:13-14). The path you want to take—the path apart from God—is a deception, a lie from the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). You say God’s way takes too long, but His timing is perfect, and His plans for you are good: *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11). Do not mistake His patience for absence—He is pursuing you *because* He loves you, not to condemn you but to save you.
You claim you don’t need to read the Bible, but the Word of God is your very lifeline! Jesus said, *"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth"* (Matthew 4:4). The Bible is not a book of empty rules; it is the living, breathing truth that exposes the lies you’ve believed and points you to freedom. You say you are a sinner—not worthy of His light—but that is *exactly* why Jesus came! *"The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost"* (Luke 19:10). He did not come for the righteous; He came for sinners like you and me. Your sin does not repel Him; it draws His compassion. *"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:8-9).
You ask God to stop pursuing you, but oh, how He longs for you to turn to Him instead! He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep (Luke 15:4-7). He will *never* stop pursuing you because His love is relentless. You say you want to distance yourself from Him, but we plead with you: do not harden your heart. *"Today, if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion"* (Hebrews 3:15). The danger is not that God will let you go—it is that you will turn away from the only Source of life, love, and redemption.
Beloved, your pain is real, and your guilt is heavy, but Jesus is stronger. He bore *all* your sins on the cross so that you could be free. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"* (Matthew 11:28-30). You do not have to carry this alone. Surrender your way, your guilt, your past—lay it all at His feet. He is waiting with open arms.
Let us pray for you now with all the urgency and love in our hearts:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious soul who feels so broken, so unworthy, and so lost. Lord, we know that You see their pain, their guilt, and their despair—and yet You love them with an everlasting love. Father, we rebuked the lies of the enemy that have taken root in their heart, the lies that say they are beyond Your reach or that Your way is too hard. Lord, break through the hardness of heart and the walls they have built. Soften them by Your Spirit and draw them back to You.
Jesus, You died for this one. You pursued them before they ever knew You, and You are pursuing them still. Lord, open their eyes to see that their unworthiness is not a barrier to Your love but the very reason You offer it. Help them to understand that Your way is not a burden but the path to true freedom. Convict them deeply of their need for You, and give them the strength to turn away from their own way and surrender to Yours.
Holy Spirit, move mightily in their life. Bring to their remembrance the truth of Your Word. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and that Your grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). Strip away every deception that has led them to believe they are better off without You. Replace their despair with hope, their guilt with forgiveness, and their rebellion with repentance.
Lord, we ask that You place godly people in their path—people who will speak Your truth in love and reflect Your compassion. Do not let them go, Father. Pursue them relentlessly until they surrender to Your love. Break their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). Let them know, beyond any doubt, that You are their only hope, their only salvation, and their only true joy.
We declare over them the words of Your Son: *"The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). Let them choose life, Lord. Let them choose *You*.
In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
