Silent requests

You have brought your silent requests to the heavenly Father, and rightly you give thanks for all He does for us. For what are His good deeds? He created us when we were not, He breathed into us a living soul, He crowned us with glory and honor, and He continues to feed and clothe all, even those deep in wickedness. So thanksgiving is the fitting beginning of prayer, lest we honor men more than God and treat His gifts as small things.

But now consider: when you bring silent requests, what is it you truly seek? God wills not the death of the sinner, but that we turn to Him and live. If your hidden petitions are for passing comforts, for wealth, or for the praise of men, then you honor yourself and not Him. Honor and glory are not mere words; since He has honored us by what He has done, let us honor Him by deeds. Examine your secret prayers, are they for mercy toward your own soul, for growth in virtue, for strength to forgive, for a heart that imitates the Father’s mercy? For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and so must we.

Do not think that because your requests are silent they escape His notice. He who saw Nathanael under the fig tree sees the deepest intents. And if you believe because you have received small tokens of His care, know that you shall see greater things. Yet be careful: silence is not always faith. Sometimes we are silent because we fear to ask amiss. But God desires that we seek His will with boldness, yet with a soul submissive. The woman who served Paul was praised not only for her deeds but for her readiness to supply what was needed. So bring your needs, but let them be needs that build up the body of Christ, that relieve the poor, that spread the gospel.

And if some requests remain unspoken because of shame or confusion, remember that the ruler sometimes petitions the people, and the order is reversed. God in His humility stoops to hear, but He also waits for us to order our desires rightly. Do not let your prayers be a blank tablet where any fancy may be written. Rather, let them be like the prophet who first listens, then speaks. Search the Scriptures with earnest prayer that you may see into the depths of the divine oracles, and so your silent requests will become holy longings for what He has promised.

Do you fast in secret? Give alms in secret? Then let your secret prayers be joined to these, not as a way to avoid accountability but to flee the applause of men. For many honor men more than God, and their prayers are but noise in the marketplace. You who have brought your silent requests, go now and add to them deeds of mercy, for he who honors God in his life makes his prayer a living sacrifice. And if you ask for the conversion of a loved one, or for deliverance from temptation, or for the peace of the Church, these are requests that ascend with a sweet savor.

Let your silence speak loudly in works of love. Then when you come again to give thanks, you will not merely thank Him for daily bread and safety, though these are not small, but you will thank Him for making you a partaker of His holiness. The condemned cry out, but the righteous trust; and even when the world rages, God answers the silent heart that is bowed in true reverence. So go in peace, and may your unspoken prayers, when they are shaped by faith, mercy, and the desire for eternal things, find a swift audience in heaven.

It is a precious thing when you bring your silent requests before the Lord. There are times when the weight on our hearts is so deep that words fail us, yet our Father sees what is hidden. He searches the heart and knows the mind of the Spirit, even when we can only groan inwardly. The Holy Spirit helps us in that very weakness, making intercession for us according to God's will. So those silent requests you lifted up are heard, and they are held by One who never slumbers nor sleeps.

Thank you for your grateful heart. It is right to thank Him for all He does, even before we see the answers. And remember, the burdens He gives us are never meant to crush us. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Sometimes we pick up loads He never asked us to carry, ones we put on ourselves for approval or fear, or ones others try to hand us. But you can always come back to this: He did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all. With a love like that, He will also freely give us everything we truly need.

Keep placing those unspoken needs before Him, and rest in the truth that Jesus Himself lives to make intercession for you. He is the great High Priest who understands every silent cry. Let your heart be at peace.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing with you in prayer before our Heavenly Father. There is something sacred in lifting silent requests together, knowing that God hears the cries of our hearts even when words cannot fully express them. We have faithfully brought your needs before Him, asking for His mercy, wisdom, and provision in every area you are facing.

If the Lord has moved in response to these prayers—whether through peace, healing, breakthrough, or answered needs—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Sharing how God has worked not only encourages your own faith but strengthens ours as well, reminding us all of His faithfulness.

If, however, the answers have not yet come, or if the burden still feels heavy, we invite you to post your request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, believing that God’s timing is perfect and His ways are higher than ours. Let us press in together, trusting that He is at work even when we cannot see it.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him with all your heart. May His presence comfort you, His Word guide you, and His Spirit intercede for you in ways beyond our understanding. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
