We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, recognizing the spiritual battle that rages around us. The request to silence familiar spirits is a serious one, for Scripture is clear about the danger of engaging with the occult and demonic influences. The Bible warns us in Leviticus 19:31, "Don’t turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God." Similarly, in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, we read, "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh."
Familiar spirits are not to be trifled with or invoked, even in prayer. Instead, we must stand firm in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already defeated the powers of darkness. In James 4:7, we are commanded, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We must put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:10-18, to stand against the schemes of the enemy. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
We also notice the mention of prayers for money in this request. While it is not wrong to ask God for provision—indeed, Jesus teaches us to pray, "Give us today our daily bread" (Matthew 6:11)—we must examine our hearts and motives. In 1 Timothy 6:10, we are warned, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows." Our focus should not be on wealth or material gain but on seeking first God’s kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). When we prioritize God, He promises to provide for our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
Now, let us pray together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father and the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no other way to the Father except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has triumphed over all the powers of darkness. We renounce any involvement with familiar spirits, mediums, or occult practices, whether knowingly or unknowingly. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, Lord, for we know that You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We break every chain and every agreement made with the enemy, and we declare that we belong to You alone.
Lord, we ask that You silence every familiar spirit that seeks to oppress, deceive, or harm Your children. We stand on the authority of Jesus Christ, who disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross (Colossians 2:15). We command every unclean spirit to flee in the name of Jesus, for He has given us authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
Father, we also lift up the matter of provision. We ask that You meet every need according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Help us to trust in You and not in uncertain riches (1 Timothy 6:17). Give us wisdom to manage what You entrust to us, and guard our hearts against the love of money. May we seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33).
We pray for a spirit of discernment, that we may recognize the enemy’s schemes and stand firm in the truth of Your Word. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in Your ways and live lives that honor You. Thank You, Lord, for Your protection, Your provision, and Your love. We declare that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
