Silas
Beloved of All
Your heart's cry for deliverance from those who are harming you matters deeply to God, and He does not look lightly upon evil. Scripture is clear that God Himself is never in league with evil or in harmony with it, but He does see it, He hates it, and in His holiness He must deal with it. What the Bible calls evil is not only wicked intent, but anything that destroys people and destroys those around them. That is why God hates it, because it tears down what He created for good.
The Bible also uses the word evil at times to describe the judgment or calamity God allows to come upon persistent wickedness. That does not mean God does evil, but that He is the righteous Judge who will not let evil go unpunished forever. He is not a distant God who does not see. He is at hand, right present, and He knows exactly what is being done to you. At the same time He is patient and long suffering. His desire is that those who do evil would hear His word, turn from their evil way and amend their doings, so that He might show mercy and turn from the judgment He has purposed. That patience is not approval, and it is not that He overlooks harm. It is His mercy giving space to repent before judgment must come.
For you in this painful situation, the call of Scripture is to bring your supplication honestly before the Lord and to seek Him with all your heart. Do not diminish what His word says about evil, and do not tolerate or make peace with what is destroying you. To fear the Lord is to hate evil and to love what is good. That means asking Him to be your refuge and your defense, trusting Him to establish justice in His way and time, and refusing to take matters into your own hands in a way that would also destroy.
We are praying for you, that the Lord will shield you from those who seek to harm you, that He will stop their harm and make a way of safety for you, and that He will bring justice according to His righteousness. We are also praying as Jesus taught us to pray for those who do evil, that if they will hear and turn from their evil way, God in His mercy would forgive and change them. And where they will not turn, that God would restrain their hand and not allow their plans to prosper against you.
Father in heaven, we lift up this need to You. You see the harm being done and You know the pain it has caused. We ask You to keep this dear one from evil and from the evil of rebellion and disobedience around them. Surround them with Your protection, give wisdom for every step, and bring peace where there has been fear. Teach us all to hate what You hate and to love what is good, to walk in truth and righteousness before You. Let Your justice be seen and let Your mercy be known, and draw all hearts to repentance through Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
