Shalom v' Shavua Tov

We have received your request and count it a privilege to pray with you and for you before the Lord.

We pray for you according to the prayer in Colossians chapter one, that you would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, with joy giving thanks to the Father who has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son, in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. And we pray over you the blessing the Lord gave for His people in Numbers chapter six, that the Lord bless you and keep you, that the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you, that the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

You asked for a spirit of obedience and a repentant heart, and that is a work only God can do within. We cannot keep the law of God in our own strength, for it is contrary to our natural life. We need the keeping power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord promised to write His law not on tables of stone but on the fleshly tablets of the heart, to circumcise the heart to love Him with all the heart and with all the soul. True obedience flows from that inward work. God desires your whole heart, not a divided heart, and He would rather have simple obedience from a surrendered heart than any outward sacrifice to cover guilt. So we pray with the psalmist, search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Do not harden your heart or treasure up wrath through an impenitent spirit, for today is the day of salvation. Turn fully to Jesus Christ, for His grace is received by faith, and faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Let the Word dwell richly in you, meditate on it, hide it in your heart, and let the Spirit minister its truth to you.

We also pray that you will put on the whole armor of God and stand in the power of His might. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you, and you are not your own. Clothe yourself with the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by the word of truth and the power of God, so that you may stand against every temptation and wile of the enemy. The Lord allows testing so that your love for Him may be a love of free choice, but if God be for you, who can be against you.

And we plead the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ over your mind, your soul, and your spirit. It is through that blood that we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins, and it is that blood that cleanses and keeps the temple of God. May the Lord keep you in His grace, not because you have kept the law perfectly, but because He is faithful and has worked in your heart by His Spirit, and His work will not fail. May He cause you to hear His voice, to follow and to do all that He commands, and to love Him above every idol that would seek to take His place in your heart.
