Shalom v' Shavua Tov

We have received your request and we join with you in prayer before our Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving for your desire to walk faithfully with Him.

We pray for you according to Colossians 1:9 to 15, that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness, giving thanks unto the Father who has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light and has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son, in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

We also pray over you the blessing of Numbers 6:24 to 26, that the Lord bless you and keep you, that the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you, that the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

We intercede for you that the Lord Jesus Christ by His indwelling Holy Spirit would give you a spirit of obedience from the heart, not by compulsion but with a willing mind, and that He would keep in you a continual repentant and contrite heart. As we are taught, God has marked out for us many ways of salvation when we attend to Him with humility, prayer, and turning from sin, and He hears the cry of the heart even when the voice is silent, as He heard Moses and Hannah. May He cleanse you from all defilement of flesh and spirit and make you to be His temple in which He dwells and walks, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

We pray that you may put on the whole armor of God according to Ephesians 6:10 to 13. This warfare is not with flesh and blood but with spiritual powers, and the armor is not of hides and steel but of truth and righteousness and faith and all true wisdom. So we ask that you be girded with truth, clothed with righteousness, shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, taking the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, that you may be able to stand in the evil day and having done all to stand.

We plead the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ over your mind, soul and spirit, trusting not in our own merit but in His redemption and forgiveness, that His blood which speaks better things would cover you, cleanse you, and keep you, and that the glory of God would wrap around you as you lay aside every filthy garment and put on the armor of light.

May the Lord grant you grace to sing to Him with heedfulness in your heart at all times, to pray without ceasing, and to live in conformity with His best way. We thank God for you and will continue to remember you in prayer, that you may go on unto perfection, rooted in Christ and kept by His power. Amen.

We are praying with you and for you, and we thank you for the way you have pointed to Scripture in your request.

We lift up before the Lord the prayer of Colossians 1:9 through 15 for you, that you would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you would walk in a way that is worthy of the Lord and pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all power according to His glorious might, giving thanks to the Father who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of His people in light and who has delivered you from the power of darkness and brought you into the kingdom of His dear Son, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

We also pray over you the blessing of Numbers 6:24 to 26, that the Lord will bless you and keep you, that the Lord will make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, that the Lord will lift up His countenance upon you and give you His peace.

You asked for a spirit of obedience and a repentant heart, and we join you in that. God is not looking for outward acts that cover a disobedient heart. He desires obedience from the heart, and true obedience comes not from our own strength but from His Spirit working within us. In our own nature we cannot keep His way, but He has promised under the new covenant to write His law on the heart and to circumcise the heart so that we love Him with all our heart and soul. We pray that He will continue that work in you, that your heart would be tender toward Him, quick to turn from sin and to turn to Jesus Christ. Scripture warns that a hard and unrepentant heart stores up wrath, while a heart that is searched and tried by God finds mercy. So we pray with the psalmist, search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, and lead me in the way everlasting, that there would be no idol in the heart that rivals your love for the Lord, but that your whole heart would be His.

We also pray as you asked for the armor of God from Ephesians 6:10 to 13. We ask that you would be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, clothed with truth and righteousness, readiness from the gospel of peace, shielded by faith, guarded by salvation, armed with the Word of God, and upheld by prayer in the Spirit, so that you may stand against every scheme of the enemy and remain standing. The enemy is allowed to test and to tempt, but God uses even that to prove that our love for Him is real and chosen, and He has made your body to be the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. We pray that you would live in that reality, not loving the world but walking after the Spirit.

And we plead the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ over your mind, your soul, and your spirit. It is by that blood alone that we have redemption and forgiveness, and by that blood that we are reconciled to God. We ask that His blood would cover and cleanse your thoughts, your inner life, and your whole being, and that you would know the assurance of being accepted before God, not on the basis of your own goodness but on the basis of His finished work.

Continue to hear and receive the Word of God, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Let the Word dwell richly in your heart, meditate on it, hide it within, and trust the Lord to teach you and to keep you. He is faithful, and the work He has begun in your heart He will not fail to complete.
