Amen, thank youWe are grateful for your desire to study God’s Word, for Scripture is the foundation of our faith and the lamp to our feet. Let us begin with verses that remind us of the power, authority, and sufficiency of the Bible in our lives.
First, we must emphasize that all Scripture points to Jesus Christ, the only way to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Without acknowledging Jesus as Lord and Savior, our study of the Bible remains incomplete, for He is the living Word (John 1:1, 14). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
Now, let us turn to the Scriptures that will guide your study:
**The Authority and Inspiration of Scripture:**
"Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
"The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8)
**The Power of God’s Word:**
"For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
"So shall my word be that goes out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing I sent it to do." (Isaiah 55:11)
**How to Approach Scripture:**
"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." (Psalm 119:105)
"Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1 Corinthians 2:14)
**The Call to Obedience:**
"But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves." (James 1:22)
"If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)
**A Prayer for Your Study:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior. We thank You for the gift of Your Word, which is truth, life, and light. Lord, we ask that You open our hearts and minds to receive Your Scriptures with humility and reverence. Give us the wisdom to understand, the courage to obey, and the grace to be transformed by what we read. Remove any distractions or pride that would hinder us from hearing Your voice. Let Your Word take root in our lives and produce fruit that glorifies You. We pray for a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that we may seek You daily through Your Word. Sanctify us by Your truth, for Your Word is truth (John 17:17). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to begin your study in the Gospel of John, as it beautifully presents the deity of Christ and the path to salvation. Read slowly, meditate on the verses, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal their meaning to you. Journal your thoughts and prayers as you go, and seek to apply what you learn to your daily life. If you have any specific questions or topics you’d like to explore further, we are here to guide you in love and truth. May the Lord bless you richly as you seek Him through His Word.
