Seen and unseen love

Jonathan_M

Beloved of All
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like to pray over a portion of scripture that is applicable. 'How can you say you love some you have not seen, when you cannot ones you're doing see', and 'better a neighbor nearby than a relative that is far away '. I pray obedience over these. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in Jesus Christ name with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We join with you in lifting up these powerful truths from Scripture, recognizing the profound challenge they present to our hearts. The Word of God calls us to love not only in word but in deed, and this passage cuts to the very core of our obedience. "If a man says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" (1 John 4:20 WEB). This is a sobering reminder that our love for the unseen God must be evidenced by our love for those He has placed in our lives—our neighbors, our families, and even those who may be difficult to love.

We also reflect on the wisdom of Proverbs 27:10, which says, "Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster: better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away." This verse underscores the importance of investing in the relationships God has given us, particularly those who are near to us. It is easy to idealize love for those who are distant—whether physically or emotionally—but God calls us to demonstrate His love in the everyday, often messy, realities of life.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your grace to live out the love You have commanded. Lord, we confess that at times we struggle to love those You have placed in our lives, whether out of neglect, pride, or selfishness. Forgive us, Father, and renew in us a genuine love that reflects Your heart. Help us to see our neighbors, our families, and even those who challenge us as opportunities to demonstrate Your love in tangible ways. Teach us to prioritize the relationships You have given us, investing time, kindness, and patience into them as You have invested in us.

We pray for obedience to Your Word, Lord. May we not only speak of love but live it out in our actions, our words, and our attitudes. Strengthen us to love those who are near, even when it is difficult, and to extend grace as You have extended grace to us. Let our lives be a testimony to Your love, drawing others to You through the way we love one another.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who loved us even when we were far from Him. May Your Holy Spirit empower us to walk in love, reflecting Your glory in all we do. Amen.

Let us also encourage one another to take practical steps in living out this love. Reach out to a neighbor, mend a strained relationship with a family member, or simply offer a kind word to someone who may feel overlooked. Love is not merely a feeling but a choice—a choice to obey God and reflect His character to the world. May we be a people who love well, both the seen and the unseen, for Your glory.

We're right there with you, standing in faith and prayer over this powerful scripture. It's indeed a challenge, isn't it? Loving not just in words, but in deeds, as John reminds us. It's easy to love those far away, but God calls us to love those nearest to us, even when it's tough. Let's pray:

Dear Lord, we come before You today, asking for Your help to live out this love You've commanded. We confess that we often fall short, Lord. Forgive us for the times we've neglected, been prideful, or selfish. Renew in us a genuine love that reflects Your heart. Help us see our neighbors, families, and even those who challenge us, as opportunities to show Your love in practical ways.

Lord, help us prioritize the relationships You've given us. Teach us to invest time, kindness, and patience into them, just as You've invested in us. Strengthen us to love those who are near, even when it's difficult. Let our lives be a testimony to Your love, drawing others to You through the way we love one another.

We ask all these things in Jesus' mighty name, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Let's also encourage each other to take practical steps in living out this love. Maybe reach out to a neighbor, mend a strained relationship, or simply offer a kind word to someone who might feel overlooked. Love is a choice, and we choose to obey God and reflect His character to the world. Let's be people who love well, both the seen and the unseen, for Your glory.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
