Secure the WORD in my heart
We join you in this vital request, for the Word of God is indeed the sword of the Spirit, and it is by His truth that we stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. The devil seeks to snatch away the seed of God’s Word from our hearts, just as Jesus warned in the parable of the sower: *"When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom, and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes, and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart"* (Matthew 13:19, WEB). But we know that when the Word takes root in a heart that receives it with understanding, it bears fruit—thirty, sixty, even a hundredfold!
You have rightly identified the need to wield the *whole* armor of God, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). The apostle Paul urges us to *"take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
