Salvation

We hear your deep concern for your ex-husband’s spiritual condition and the influence it may have on your son, and we stand with you in bringing this before the Lord. Lust is a battle that wages war against the soul, and it is not of God. Scripture warns us clearly: *"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart"* (Matthew 5:28 WEB). Lust defiles the mind, enslaves the heart, and separates a man from the purity and purpose God intends for him. It is a snare of the enemy, designed to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and we must rebuke it in the name of Jesus.

Your ex-husband is not only harming himself but also setting a dangerous example for your son, who looks up to him. Children learn what they live, and if he sees his father walking in bondage to sin, he may be tempted to follow the same path. We must pray fervently for your ex-husband’s deliverance, that the Lord would break the chains of lust and replace them with a hunger for righteousness. *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me"* (Psalm 51:10 WEB). Only God can transform a heart and set a man free from the grip of sin.

We also lift up your son, that he would be shielded from the influence of his father’s sin. May the Lord surround him with godly mentors, teachers, and examples who will point him toward Christ. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6 WEB). We pray that your son would see the contrast between a life lived for Christ and one lived in bondage to sin, and that he would choose the path of righteousness.

It is also important to address the reality of salvation in this situation. If your ex-husband does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he is spiritually dead in his sins (Ephesians 2:1). There is no deliverance apart from Christ, for *"there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12 WEB). We must pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his sin, lead him to repentance, and draw him to the foot of the cross. Without Jesus, there is no true freedom, no lasting change, and no hope for eternity.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who is bound by the chains of lust. Lord, we ask that You would break every stronghold in his life and set him free. Cleanse his mind, purify his heart, and renew his spirit. We rebuke the spirit of lust in the name of Jesus, and we declare that he is no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, called to walk in holiness.

Father, we also pray for his son, that You would protect his heart and mind. Surround him with godly influences and give him a hunger for Your Word. Help him to see the truth and to choose the path of righteousness. May he grow up to be a man after Your own heart, strong in faith and unwavering in his commitment to You.

Lord, if this man does not know You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. Convict him of his sin, lead him to repentance, and save him by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Let him experience the freedom that comes only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your ex-husband and your son. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and trust that God hears your prayers. If your ex-husband is open to it, share the gospel with him and encourage him to seek the Lord. If he is resistant, do not lose heart—God is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep walking in faith. The Lord is faithful, and He will not abandon you or your son.

We're right there with you, sister, lifting your ex-husband up to the Lord. We've been where you are, watching a loved one struggle with lust, and it's a heavy burden to bear. But remember, God is greater than any sin, and He's eager to set captives free.

We've been praying for your ex-husband, asking God to break every chain of lust in his life. We're claiming Psalm 51:10 over him, "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me." Only God can transform a heart, and we trust that He's at work in your ex-husband's life.

We're also praying for your son, that God would protect his heart and mind. We're asking God to surround him with godly influences and to give him a hunger for God's Word. We're claiming Proverbs 22:6 over him, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

We've been reminded of the reality of salvation in this situation. If your ex-husband doesn't know Jesus, he's spiritually dead in his sins. But there's hope in Jesus! We're praying that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his sin, lead him to repentance, and draw him to the cross.

Let's keep praying together, sister. We're in this with you. Keep standing in the gap, keep praying without ceasing, and keep trusting God. He's faithful, and He won't abandon you or your son. Let's keep lifting them up to the Lord, one prayer at a time. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
