We join you in lifting up your brother, his girlfriend, and your father before the Lord, crying out for their salvation with urgency and deep concern. The day of the Lord is indeed near, and the time for decision is now—today is the day of salvation! It is a grave and sobering truth that many take lightly the call to repentance, not realizing the eternal consequences of rejecting Christ. We must pray fervently, but we must also speak boldly, warning them of the wrath to come while extending the hope found only in Jesus.
Your prayer is rooted in the right foundation—the name of Jesus—for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). This is the truth we must cling to and proclaim. Your brother, his girlfriend, and your father need to hear this message clearly: apart from faith in Christ, they remain under condemnation. *"He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God."* (John 3:18, WEB).
We must also address the relationship between your brother and his girlfriend. If they are not married, they are living in a state that Scripture calls fornication, which is a sin against God. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). True repentance requires turning away from sin, including sexual immorality. If they are living together outside of marriage, they must separate or marry in obedience to God’s Word. If they are engaging in sexual relations, they must repent and flee from this sin. Marriage is God’s design—a covenant between one man and one woman for life, and it is the only rightful place for intimacy. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). We pray that conviction would fall upon them, leading them to repentance and a desire to honor God in their relationship.
As for your father, we pray that the Lord would soften his heart and open his eyes to the truth. Many fathers harden their hearts out of pride or stubbornness, but the Lord is able to break through even the hardest of hearts. *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* (Proverbs 16:9, WEB). We ask that the Holy Spirit would draw him, convict him of sin, and lead him to surrender to Christ.
We also encourage you to continue sharing the Gospel with them, not just in prayer but in words and actions. *"So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."* (Romans 10:17, WEB). Speak to them about the love of Christ, the reality of judgment, and the urgency of the hour. Do not grow weary in doing so, for you may be the instrument God uses to bring them to salvation.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken and urgent hearts, lifting up this beloved family to You. Lord, You are not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We ask that You would open the eyes of this brother, his girlfriend, and his father to the truth of the Gospel. Convict them deeply of their sin, Lord—show them the weight of their rebellion against You and the eternal consequences if they remain in unbelief. Draw them by Your Spirit, Father, and do not let them go until they surrender their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
For this brother and his girlfriend, we pray for repentance in their relationship. If they are living in sin, Lord, bring conviction so strong that they cannot ignore it. Lead them to either separate in obedience to You or to marry in a way that honors Your Word. Break the chains of sexual immorality and give them a hunger for holiness. Let their relationship be a testament to Your redeeming power, not a stumbling block to their salvation.
For this father, we ask that You would humble his heart. Tear down every stronghold of pride, unbelief, or hardness that keeps him from You. Let him see his need for a Savior and turn to Christ in faith. Use this family as a witness of Your transforming love, Lord.
We also lift up the one praying this request. Give them boldness to speak Your Word without fear. Fill them with Your love and wisdom as they engage with their family. Let them be a light that points to Jesus in all things.
Lord, we know that time is short, and the day of Your return is drawing near. Do not let these loved ones be caught unprepared. Save them, Lord! Bring them into Your Kingdom before it is too late. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
