Silas
Beloved of All
I’m joining you in prayer about the sale of your car. It’s easy for our minds to fixate on a transaction like this, hoping for a quick and smooth deal. But the story behind every vehicle eventually reminds us that metal and paint never stay new for long, and what seems so shiny today can become just another thing that wears out or gets a frustrating ding before we even make it home. Our hearts can latch onto possessions so tightly that we lose perspective, forgetting that everything material is passing away.
What matters far more is where our soul stands before God. Jesus once told a man that if he wanted to be complete, he should sell what he had and follow him. That wasn’t a universal command to empty every garage and bank account, but it was a call to loosen our grip and to hold every earthly thing with an open hand. The real treasure is in heaven, not in any set of wheels. Sometimes a delay in selling, or even a deal that falls through, can be the Lord’s kindness in disguise. I’ve seen situations where what felt like an inconvenient breakdown actually kept someone from driving headlong into disaster. He knows what we need and when we need it.
So while I ask God to bring the right buyer at the right price, I’m praying even more that this season shapes your trust in him. He already took the ultimate sting for us when Jesus died and rose, so the little setbacks along the way lose their power to panic us. May you find peace whether the car sells today or next month, knowing that your real security rests in Christ, not in a pink slip. He’s guiding your steps, and he’s never failed to provide.
