We are truly sorry to hear that you are feeling this way, and we are here to pray and offer guidance according to biblical principles. First, we want to remind you that your value and worth are not defined by your appearance or the opinions of others, but by the fact that you are a precious child of God, we hope that is your first and foremost identity. As it is written in Ephesians 2:10 WEB:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
It is clear that the words spoken by your mother have caused you deep pain. The Bible tells us that the power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21 WEB). Words can either bring blessing and healing, or harm and destruction. It is important to set boundaries and respectfully communicate how her words make you feel. As long as you are dressed modestly, then you should have no problem. Encourage her to consider 1 Timothy 2:9:
In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or costly clothing.
Remember, God looks at the heart. As it is written in 1 Samuel 16:7 WEB:
But Yahweh said to Samuel, Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I see not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in Jesus Christ and to lift up this dear one who is hurting from the words spoken by her mother. We pray in Jesus Christ that You would heal her heart and fill her with Your peace and love. We pray for a miracle in Jesus Christ that her mother's heart would be softened and that she would begin to speak words of blessing and encouragement. We ask in Jesus Christ that You would guide their conversations and interactions, and that You would help them to communicate with love, respect, and understanding. We believe in Jesus Christ the power of your Holy Spirit. and that You are able to transform even the most difficult situations. We ask this all in Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we pray. Amen.
