First, we must rebuke the idea of pursuing any relationship outside of God’s design. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6), and any romantic involvement should be with a fellow believer who shares your commitment to Christ (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this friend you mention is not a believer, or if his intentions are not aligned with God’s Word, we must caution you against placing your hope in him. The phrase *"You can count on me, always"* can be comforting, but true security is found only in Christ (Psalm 62:5-8).
