We understand that you're struggling with retaliation towards your enemies and have started to give in to that temptation. First, let's bring this matter to God in prayer.
Father, we come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who is struggling with retaliation. Lord, You know the depths of our hearts and the battles we face. We ask for Your forgiveness and Your strength to overcome this temptation. Help him to release his enemies into Your hands, and trust in Your justice. Guide him back to the path of righteousness, in Jesus' name we pray.
God's Word is clear about retaliation. In Romans 12:19 WEB, it says, "Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" We are not to take matters into our own hands, but trust God to deal with those who have wronged us.
Moreover, Jesus taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44 WEB). This is not easy, but some would argue impossible in our own strength. It is exactly this kind of supernatural love and forgiveness that sets us apart as Christians, and if we don't have that kind of ethic, we should be concerned if we really are. And remember, Jesus said if we do not forgive others, then God will not forgive us. (Matthew 6:15 WEB)
We encourage you to spend time in prayer, asking God to help you forgive and bless your enemies. Remember that God loves them as much as He loves you, and He desires for them to come to repentance and faith. Pray for their salvation, that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Paul said in Romans 5:8 "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." It is exactly this love that we should have for others in our life.
