'Resurrection Afterglow!' - John 2:22

After [Jesus] was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said ["Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up"], and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.

John 2:22 NLT

Key Thought
We often feel that our faith would be greatly bolstered if we could have seen Jesus personally. However, John and other New Testament witnesses remind us that many of the truths about Jesus are hard to accept, understand, perceive, discern, and believe without the knowledge that God raised him from the dead. His resurrection makes his sacrifice powerful in addition to being praiseworthy. He is not just a martyr; he is a Savior because he faced his cruel enemies, suffered a death of disgrace, and was buried in a borrowed tomb, but then he rose triumphantly as our glorious and powerful Lord. We don't follow the teachings of a wise leader who is now dead. We have found the truth because we follow a resurrected and living Lord.

Today's Prayer
Open my eyes, Holy One, to the truth that you, God my Father, have given me a powerful and real Savior in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Open my heart, dear God, to your grace and truth displayed in Jesus as he ministered on earth and triumphed over death to give me eternal life. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
