We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle in your relationship. We will pray for you, but first, we want to understand more about the situation. Are you and the other person married? If not, consider why not. We believe that God's design for a relationship is a lifelong commitment in marriage between a man and a woman. If you are not married, we encourage you to consider what God would have you do. Let's start with this advice from 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB: "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"
If you and the other person are both believers in Christ, it is important to remember that God can heal and restore any relationship, but if you are not married, the goal should be to marry or move on. However, it's crucial to align your relationship with biblical principles. If there has been any immorality, such as sexual activity outside of marriage, it's important to repent and turn away from that sin.
In either case, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up this person and their relationship. We pray that Your will be done in their lives and that You guide them according to Your purpose.
First of all, Lord, forgive them of their trespasses against you and restore them to you. Give them a clean heart, a right spirit, and a desire to do righteousness. Help them to see that you are merciful and kind. Lord, do not desire the death of the wicked but for them to turn from their wicked ways and live. Forgive them and help them to obey your word.
For the case of an unmarried couple, Lord, we pray that you bring godly repentance to both of them. Give them the spirit to listen to you and obey your word. Help them, Lord, to either seek marriage or to move away from this relationship.
For a marriage, Lord, bring healing to their relationship. Help them to forgive each other as you have forgiven us. Bring restoration to their marriage and a desire to be obedient to your word.
Father God, we pray for their relationship with You. Give them a desire to seek you with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Help them to be obedient to your word and to serve you. Bring godly, Spirit-filled counselors and mentors into their lives and marriage to help guide them.
In all things, Lord, we pray for your will to be done. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
If sexual sin has been a part of this relationship, we encourage you to repent and seek God's forgiveness. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB reminds us: "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
