Rescue Christian woman being abused

Sparklee

Beloved of All
Lord please rescue a wife of many years being mentally, physically, financially, emotionally abused in Jesus Name Amen. Standing on promises in Psalm 32:6-8, Is61:1-3, 2Thes3:2-3. Thank you in advance for your prayers.

We join you in lifting up this precious sister who is suffering under the weight of abuse, and we stand firmly on the truth that God sees her pain and hears her cries. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9), and He does not turn a blind eye to the wickedness of those who harm His children. This abuse—whether mental, physical, financial, or emotional—is an affront to God’s design for marriage, which is meant to reflect Christ’s sacrificial love for the Church (Ephesians 5:25-33). A husband is called to love his wife as his own body, to nourish and cherish her, not to dominate, demean, or destroy her. What is happening to this woman is not only sinful but evil, and we must confront it with the truth of Scripture and the power of prayer.

The verses you stand upon are mighty and true. Psalm 32:6-8 reminds us that the Lord is our hiding place, preserving us from trouble, and that He will instruct and teach us in the way we should go. Isaiah 61:1-3 proclaims that the Lord has sent His Anointed One to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and to comfort all who mourn. And 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 assures us that the Lord is faithful; He will establish and guard us against the evil one. These promises are not empty words—they are the very foundation upon which we can trust God to act on behalf of this sister.

Yet we must also speak plainly: if this woman is in immediate danger, she must seek safety *now*. The Bible does not call us to endure abuse as though it is a cross to bear for the sake of "submission." Submission in marriage is not a license for a husband to sin against his wife, nor is it a call for a wife to remain in harm’s way. First Corinthians 7:10-11 and other passages make it clear that while God hates divorce, He also hates violence and oppression (Malachi 2:16). If separation is necessary for her safety, then it is not only permissible but wise, and she should not be made to feel guilty for protecting the life God has given her. We urge her to reach out to trusted believers, her pastor, or a biblical counselor who can help her navigate this situation with wisdom and care. Local authorities or shelters may also need to be involved if her life is at risk—this is not a lack of faith but a practical step to honor the life God has entrusted to her.

We also pray that the Holy Spirit would convict her husband of his sin. If he is a believer, he is acting in direct rebellion against God’s Word, and he must repent. If he is not a believer, then we pray the Lord would open his eyes to his need for Christ, for no one can truly love as they ought without the transforming power of the Gospel. Either way, his behavior is inexcusable, and he must be held accountable. The church is called to discipline those who claim the name of Christ yet live in unrepentant sin (Matthew 18:15-20), and this is a situation where biblical confrontation is necessary—for his soul and for her safety.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this sister who is suffering at the hands of her husband. Lord, You see every tear she has cried, every bruise on her body, every wound in her heart, and every lie that has been spoken to crush her spirit. You are not distant or indifferent—You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask You, Lord, to intervene mightily in this situation. Be her shield and her defender. Surround her with Your angels and place a hedge of protection around her. Give her wisdom to know what steps to take, and provide her with godly counselors who will walk beside her in this dark valley.

Lord, we pray that You would expose the evil that is being done in secret. Bring it into the light, so that it may be dealt with according to Your justice. Convict her husband of his sin—let him see the destruction he is causing and the wrath he is storing up for himself if he does not repent. Soften his heart, Lord, and break him before You. If he is Your child, discipline him as only You can, and lead him to true repentance. If he does not know You, Lord, save him—open his eyes to his need for Jesus Christ, for apart from You, no one can love as they ought.

Father, we ask that You would provide a way of escape for this woman. If she needs to leave, give her the courage and the means to do so. Place people in her path who will help her, and do not let shame or fear keep her in bondage. Restore to her the joy of Your salvation and the confidence that she is Your beloved daughter. Heal her wounds, Lord—emotional, physical, and spiritual. Let her know that she is not alone, and that You are fighting for her.

We stand against the enemy who seeks to destroy her faith, her hope, and her life. Satan, we rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ. You have no authority here. The blood of Jesus covers this sister, and no weapon formed against her will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We declare that the Lord is her strength and her song, and He has become her salvation (Exodus 15:2).

Father, we thank You that You are a God of justice and mercy. We trust You to act on behalf of this woman, to rescue her, and to restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25). Give her peace that surpasses understanding as she waits on You, and let her know that her prayers are heard. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who bore our sins and our sorrows on the cross. Amen.

To the sister who submitted this request: you are not forgotten. The Lord sees you, and He is moving on your behalf. Do not lose heart. Keep crying out to Him, and take the steps He leads you to take—even if they are hard. You are not called to suffer in silence. Reach out to those who can help you, and trust that God is with you in this. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Stay rooted in His Word, and let His promises be your anchor. We are standing with you in prayer, believing for your deliverance and your healing. The Lord is faithful, and He will do it.

We're here with you, dear sister, holding you up in our hearts and prayers. We know the weight you're carrying, the pain you're enduring, and we want you to know that you're not alone. God sees you, He hears your cries, and He's moving on your behalf.

We stand on the promises in Psalm 32:6-8, Isaiah 61:1-3, and 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3, trusting that God will hide you in the shelter of His wings, preserve you from trouble, and instruct and teach you in the way you should go. We believe that God is faithful, and He will establish and guard you against the evil one.

But we also urge you, if you're in immediate danger, please seek safety now. God doesn't call us to endure abuse as if it's a cross to bear. He hates violence and oppression, and He wants you to protect the life He's given you. Reach out to trusted believers, your pastor, or a biblical counselor. Local authorities or shelters may also need to be involved if your life is at risk.

We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict your husband of his sin, whether he's a believer or not. We ask God to open his eyes to his need for Christ if he's not a believer, or to lead him to true repentance if he is. We pray for his soul and for your safety.
