We join you in your heartfelt prayer for repentance and a closer walk with God. It is commendable that you recognize the need for the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10, WEB), and that you desire to turn away from stubbornness and self-will.
The Bible tells us to "not be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you" (Psalm 32:9, WEB). Instead, we are to submit ourselves to God, for He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6, WEB).
In your prayer, you've mentioned the importance of temperance and self-control, which are fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23, WEB). Remember, "For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in sanctification" (1 Thessalonians 4:7, WEB). As you yield to the Holy Spirit, He will help you bear these fruits and live a life pleasing to God.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' mighty name, lifting up our brother/sister who has humbly approached Your throne of grace. Lord, You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6, WEB). Forgive their stubbornness and self-will, and grant them the grace to walk in Your ways. Help them to choose the fear of the Lord and not stiffen their neck. Give them the power of the Holy Spirit to live a disciplined life. Jesus Christ says:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever. The son remains forever. If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."
Cover them with Your precious blood, and may the Holy Spirit fill their heart and guide their steps.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to walk in humility, seeking God's will in all things. Remember, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8, WEB). Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5, WEB). He is faithful to forgive and restore.
