We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who is carrying the deep wounds of abuse and trauma. Father God, You see the pain, the exhaustion, and the weight of these burdens. You do not turn away from the brokenhearted but draw near to them, offering comfort, healing, and strength. We declare over this precious one that You are their refuge and fortress, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are the God who binds up the brokenhearted and heals their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
Lord, we ask that You renew their strength as You have promised in Your Word. Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Father, we pray that You would lift this dear one above their circumstances, giving them the resilience to press forward. Help them to wait on You, trusting that You will sustain them and carry them through each day.
We also rebuke the lies of the enemy that may be whispering despair, hopelessness, or shame. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that they might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We speak truth over them: they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37), and they are not defined by their past but by Your love and redemption.
Father, we ask that You surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and fill them with Your hope. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). We pray for godly community to come alongside them—believers who will speak life, encouragement, and truth into their situation. May they find solace in Your presence, knowing that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Lord, if there are areas where they have sought strength or comfort outside of You, we ask that You draw them back to Your loving arms. Remind them that true strength is found in surrender to You, and that Your grace is sufficient for them, for Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Help them to release their pain to You, trusting that You will work all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
We also pray for justice, Lord. You are a God who sees and hears the cries of the oppressed, and You will bring justice for the fatherless and the oppressed (Psalm 10:17-18). If there are steps they need to take to seek justice or protection, give them wisdom and courage to do so. Protect them from further harm, and let Your light expose any darkness that seeks to keep them bound.
Above all, we pray that they would experience Your love in a tangible way. May they know that You are their healer, their defender, and their peace. Renew their mind with Your truth, and restore their soul. We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
