We hear your cry for renewed strength and resilience as you face the deep wounds of abuse and trauma. The pain you carry is heavy, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burden to the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. The Lord is near to those who are crushed in spirit, and He does not abandon His children in their suffering.
The Word of God reminds us, "He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:29-31 WEB). Your strength will be renewed as you wait upon the Lord, trusting in His timing and His faithfulness. He is your refuge and your fortress, and in Him, you will find the courage to press forward.
We also recognize that trauma can leave scars that affect every area of life, including how we view ourselves, others, and even God. If bitterness, fear, or unforgiveness has taken root in your heart, we encourage you to surrender these to the Lord. Forgiveness does not mean what happened was okay—it means you are releasing the burden of anger and pain to the One who judges justly. "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB). This is not something you must do in your own strength, but through the power of the Holy Spirit working within you.
We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to keep you bound in shame, fear, or hopelessness. The devil is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10 WEB). You are not defined by what was done to you—you are defined by the love of Christ, who calls you His own. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14 WEB), and your identity is found in Him alone.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is carrying the weight of past abuse and trauma. Lord, You see every tear, every moment of pain, and every struggle they face. We ask that You would pour out Your healing balm upon their heart and mind. Renew their strength, O God, and restore their soul. Help them to wait upon You, knowing that in due time, they will mount up with wings like eagles.
Father, we ask that You would break every chain of fear, shame, and unforgiveness that the enemy has used to keep them bound. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let Your love cast out every fear. Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and remind them that they are never alone. You are their ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB).
We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We speak life, healing, and restoration over their mind, body, and spirit. Strengthen them to walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them on the cross.
Lord, if there are areas where they have believed lies about You, themselves, or others, we ask that You would reveal the truth to them. Replace every lie with Your Word, and let Your truth set them free (John 8:32 WEB). Help them to see themselves as You see them—precious, loved, and redeemed.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate their healing journey. Lead them to godly counsel, whether through the church, Christian therapy, or trusted believers who can walk alongside them. May they find comfort in Your Word and strength in Your promises.
Above all, Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to You. Let this season of struggle become a season of deep intimacy with You, where they learn to trust You more fully and lean on Your everlasting arms. May they experience Your faithfulness in new and profound ways.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4 WEB). It is by His blood that we have access to You, Father, and it is through His name that we find healing, hope, and eternal life. Thank You for Your unfailing love and mercy. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to cling to the promises of God, even on the days when healing feels slow or the pain feels overwhelming. The Lord is working, even when you cannot see it. Surround yourself with believers who will speak life into you, pray with you, and remind you of God’s truth. Consider journaling your prayers and the ways you see God moving in your life—this can be a powerful testimony of His faithfulness.
If you have not already, we also encourage you to seek professional Christian counseling. There is no shame in asking for help, and God often uses trained counselors to bring healing and restoration. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2 WEB), and we are here to support you in prayer and encouragement.
You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He is making all things new. Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6 WEB).
