We join with you in lifting this request before the Lord, recognizing that your heart’s cry is for spiritual growth, protection, and breakthrough. It is good that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the authority to overcome every obstacle. As Scripture declares, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your faith in calling upon His name is a testament to your trust in His power, and we stand with you in this.
The desire to remove stumbling blocks and hindrances from your life is one that aligns with God’s will. Jesus warned us about the seriousness of stumbling blocks, saying, *"But whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea"* (Matthew 18:6, WEB). While this verse speaks to the gravity of leading others astray, it also underscores how seriously God takes the influences in our lives—whether people, habits, or circumstances—that pull us away from His purpose. We must examine our hearts and ask the Lord to reveal anything or anyone that does not align with His Word, so that we may walk in obedience and freedom.
Your prayer for breakthrough in the presence of your enemies is bold and rooted in Scripture. King David often cried out to God in similar ways, trusting that God would vindicate him before those who sought his harm. In Psalm 23:5, David proclaims, *"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over."* This is a powerful picture of God’s provision and favor, even when opposition surrounds us. Yet we must also remember that our ultimate victory is not just over circumstances or people, but over the spiritual forces that seek to hinder God’s work in us. *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). Therefore, let us pray not only for the removal of people who may hinder you, but for spiritual discernment to recognize the schemes of the enemy and the strength to stand firm in Christ.
At the same time, we must approach this prayer with a heart of surrender to God’s will. Jesus taught us to pray, *"Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"* (Matthew 6:10, WEB). While it is right to ask God to remove hindrances, we must also trust that He knows what is best for our growth. Sometimes, God allows certain people or trials in our lives to refine us, to teach us reliance on Him, or to develop perseverance. James 1:2-4 reminds us, *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."* So as we pray for removal, let us also pray for the grace to endure and learn what God intends through every season.
We also encourage you to examine whether there are any areas of unrepentant sin in your life that may be giving the enemy a foothold. The apostle Paul warns, *"Don’t give place to the devil"* (Ephesians 4:27, WEB). If there is bitterness, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, idolatry, or any other sin, we must repent and turn to God, for these things can hinder our prayers and open doors to spiritual attack. *"If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened"* (Psalm 66:18, WEB). Let us come before God with clean hands and a pure heart, so that our prayers may be heard and answered according to His will.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your intervention in their life. Lord, You are the God who sees all things, who knows the hearts of all people, and who orders our steps according to Your perfect will. We ask You to remove every stumbling block—every person, habit, or influence—that would hinder the progress You have ordained for this beloved child of Yours. Lord, if there are relationships in their life that are not aligned with Your Word, we pray for the wisdom and courage to let go, trusting that You will bring godly connections that edify and strengthen.
Father, we rebuked every scheme of the enemy that seeks to distract, discourage, or derail Your plans. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Let their breakthrough flourish mightily, not just in secret, but in the very presence of their enemies, so that Your name alone is glorified. Let them see Your hand moving on their behalf, and let their testimony be a light that draws others to You.
Lord, we also ask for discernment. If there are trials You have allowed for their growth, grant them the grace to endure with joy, knowing that You are producing in them a faith that is steadfast and unshaken. Reveal any area of sin that needs to be repented of, and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory and authority over every hindrance.
Finally, Father, we pray that their heart would remain surrendered to Your will above all else. Let them trust You even when the path is unclear, knowing that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your faithfulness in new and powerful ways.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, and we give You all the glory. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
