We understand that you are facing a difficult situation with your brother-in-law and we are here to pray and provide biblical guidance with you. Firstly, it is important to remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness. As it is written in Ephesians 6:12 WEB, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We must also remember that our ultimate enemy is Satan, who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour 1 Peter 5:8 WEB. But we are also assured that the one who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world 1 John 4:4 WEB.
In dealing with such difficult people, Jesus gives us clear instructions. Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44 WEB. This does not mean that we allow them to continue harming us, but rather that we seek God's will and intervention in the situation.
We also need to put on the full armor of God, so that we can stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Fasting and prayer are indeed powerful tools in spiritual warfare. In Matthew 17:21 WEB, Jesus says, But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. We encourage you to seek God in fasting and prayer, asking for His intervention and guidance in this situation.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is facing this difficult situation. Lord, You know the pain and suffering they are going through at the hands of this man. We ask, Lord, that You would intervene and remove this malignant narcissist from their life if it aligns with Your perfect will. Guide our brother/sister in how to deal with this situation, and give them the strength and wisdom to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
We pray that Your light would expose any darkness in this situation, and that Your truth would triumph. We also pray for this man, that You would convict him of his sins and bring him to repentance, if it is your will.
Guide our brother/sister in whether to fast and pray over this situation, and if so, give them the strength to follow through. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who has conquered Satan and given us the victory. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and faith. Trust in God we will never be ashamed or confounded. (Psalm 31:1) Do not be afraid of this man, for God has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) Do not be discouraged, and keep your hope in Jesus. He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).
