Remember The Real Reason

Father God, I just come to You this day, asking that You would center the hearts of the American people on the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day. While picnics, parades and family reunions are pleasurable, let us remember and honor the many service men and women who have died in military service to this country. Whether battling for our freedom or our protection, each one is a hero to each one of us. Let us never lessen the significance of what they have done for us. Your Son was the first one to go beyond himself and die for the remission of our sins. Our military are the second ones to put others before themselves, sometimes paying the ultimate price. Place reverence, honor and respect in our prayers and thoughts this Memorial Weekend as we remember the real reason we pause to celebrate. In the name of Jesus Christ, I praise You for the blessing of living in this land with all of the religious and political freedoms we enjoy. Amen.
