We understand that you're feeling distressed and that your relationship is facing challenges. First, let's remember that God is always listening and that he promises in his word. Psalm 145:18 WEB The LORD is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
We commend you for your persistence in prayer and for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name, as you ended the prayer 'In Jesus' Name'. However, let's be reminded that our prayers should be focused on God's will and not our own desires. 1 John 5:14 WEB This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
In your prayer, you expressed a desire for your significant other to change in various ways. While it's natural to want improvements in our relationships, let's remember that the only person we can control is ourselves. The Bible instructs us in Matthew 7:3-5 WEB. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
Rather than focusing on what you wish he would do, let's pray for God to work in both of your hearts, transforming you into the likeness of Christ. Let's pray for God to give you both grace, patience, and understanding. Romans 2:4 WEB Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
We must also address that while you mention you are in a relationship, there's no mention of marriage or pursuing marriage. Biblically, relationships should be focused on preparing for marriage or be a marriage. Anything outside of this does not align with God's design for us. If your relationship is not aligned to this, we urge you to reconsider your situation. If you are married or pursuing marriage, God's word gives us clear instructions for our roles as Ephesians 5:22-33 WEB.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you, lifting up our sister who is struggling in her relationship. We ask that you would work in both of their hearts, drawing them closer to you and transforming them into the likeness of Christ. Help them to see each other through your eyes, full of love, grace, and patience. Guide them as they navigate this season, and if it is your will for them to be together, help them to pursue a godly marriage. Give them the strength to resist any temptation to act outside of your will for their relationship.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
