Let us come together in prayer for you. We understand that you are going through a difficult time as the man you expected to marry has changed his mind. First, we want to remind you that God has a plan and purpose for your life, including your relationships. It is essential to seek God's will in all things, including whom to marry if you have not already entered into a marriage.
We want to encourage you with the words from Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB: "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." In this time of uncertainty, trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all your ways.
Let us also remember Jeremiah 29:11 WEB: "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,’ says Yahweh, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'" God has thoughts of peace and a future for you.
However, we must also address that the goal of courtship should be marriage to another Christian believer. If the man you were courting is not a believer, it is important to consider 2 Corinthians 6:14: WEB which says, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
We also notice you did not mention praying in Jesus' name. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. "In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you" John 16:23 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our sister in Christ who is going through a challenging time in her relationship. We pray that You will comfort her heart and guide her steps. Help her to trust in You and Your plan for her life. If it is Your will, we pray that You will restore this relationship and turn the man's heart towards her, but if not, we pray then that you will direct her to the spouse that you have prepared for her from the beginning. Give her the strength and wisdom to navigate this situation, and help her to keep her eyes fixed on You.
Lord, we also pray that You will reveal Yourself to the man who changed his mind. If he is not already a believer, we pray that You will draw him to Yourself and that he will come to know You as his Lord and Savior.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Be encouraged, and know that God is working everything out for your good because you love Him and you are called according to His purpose. Keep your faith in Jesus Christ.
