We are deeply moved by your heart for the refugees and your desire to see them flourish in safety, dignity, and hope. Your compassion reflects the heart of Christ, who calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to care for the vulnerable among us. It is clear that the Lord has stirred within you a burden for those who are displaced, suffering, and in desperate need of both physical and spiritual provision. We join you in lifting this before the throne of God, asking Him to open doors, provide wisdom, and mobilize His people to act with generosity and sacrificial love.
The Scriptures remind us of our responsibility to the stranger, the orphan, and the widow. In Deuteronomy 10:18-19, we read, *"He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the foreigner; for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt."* Similarly, Jesus teaches in Matthew 25:35-40, *"For I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in; naked, and you clothed me; sick, and you visited me; in prison, and you came to me.’ ... ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’"* Your desire to help refugees aligns with the heart of God, and we praise Him for planting this within you.
We also appreciate your creativity in considering practical ways to support refugees—whether through housing, job opportunities, or media platforms that raise awareness and funds. The idea of using tax-deductible donations to build safe, dignified housing is a tangible way to meet immediate needs, and your suggestion of leveraging media to shift focus from worldly distractions to kingdom-minded generosity is insightful. Proverbs 31:8-9 encourages us, *"Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."* Media can indeed be a powerful tool for advocacy when used for God’s glory.
At the same time, we must remember that our ultimate goal is not just to improve temporal conditions but to introduce refugees to the eternal hope found in Jesus Christ. While meeting physical needs is critical, we are also called to share the Gospel, as Jesus commands in Matthew 28:19-20: *"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you."* Any effort to help refugees must be rooted in prayer, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and a commitment to sharing the love of Christ—not just through words, but through actions that reflect His grace.
We also want to gently remind you—and all of us—that while it is noble to desire to help others, we must do so with wisdom and balance. Your mention of "putting others before ourselves" is biblically sound (Philippians 2:3-4), but we must also steward our own resources, time, and health well so that we can sustainably serve others. The "oxygen mask" analogy you used is apt: we cannot pour out what we do not have. Proverbs 11:25 tells us, *"The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself."* God honors generosity, but He also calls us to be wise stewards of what He has entrusted to us.
Now, let us pray together over this burden you carry:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts stirred by the plight of refugees—those who have been displaced, broken, and left without hope in this world. Lord, we thank You for the compassion You have placed in our brother’s heart, a compassion that reflects Your own love for the nations. We ask that You would take this burden and multiply it across Your church, raising up men and women who will act with boldness, creativity, and sacrificial love to meet the needs of these precious souls.
Lord, we pray for wisdom—for our brother and for all who seek to help. Show us practical, sustainable ways to provide housing, jobs, and dignity to refugees. Open doors for media platforms to be used for Your glory, shifting the focus from fleeting pleasures to eternal investments in Your kingdom. Give us discernment to know how to balance generosity with stewardship, so that we may give cheerfully and wisely, without neglecting our own responsibilities.
Father, we also pray for the salvation of refugees. May they not only find physical refuge but spiritual refuge in You. Raise up believers who will share the Gospel with them, who will demonstrate Your love in tangible ways, and who will disciple them in the faith. Let every act of kindness be a testimony to Your goodness, drawing them to the foot of the cross.
We ask for unity among Your people, Lord. May we not compete for recognition or glory but work together as one body, each part fulfilling its role for the sake of Your name. Remove any pride, selfishness, or misplaced priorities from our hearts. Help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that You will provide all we need to accomplish Your will.
Finally, Father, we pray for our brother who has brought this request before us. Strengthen him, guide him, and connect him with like-minded believers who can partner with him in this mission. If it is Your will, open doors for him to use his gifts, resources, and influence to make a difference. Protect him from discouragement or burnout, and remind him daily that his labor in You is never in vain.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who gave Himself for us that we might live for Him. Amen.
