Beloved of All
🙇🏻Father, "our fathers have told us what works You did in the past," Ps 44:1. We take as a presupposition You are no respecter of persons, and are the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8.Even though we know the Manifest Presence of God is a fearful thing, we ask You prepare our obedience to experience YOUR Holy Spirit it in a greater, weightier, degree. We're inclined to seek obedience [1], the Fruit of The Holy Spirit and humility (Knowing gifts are given, and humility is developed by suffering (David, John Baptist, Jesus, Peter, James, John, Paul), and Power of God brings a lot of "temptations" with it... It destroyed many men and women in the late 1800s until the 1950s-1960s, and gave us warnings of what to be on guard against -- fame, fortune, females -- gold, girls and glory... So we ask for The Fear of The LORD, the hatred of evil, freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception...

After having studied missionaries in Early Spring (David Brainerd to The Native Americans, Patrick to Ireland, Cyril and Methodius to the Slavic peoples, William Carey and Amy Carmichael to India, Hudson Taylor to China Inland, Adoniram Judson to Burma, some others to Africa (Livingstone), others to Korea (Robert Jermain Thomas), and then the Reformations and Revivals, Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, Knox, George Whitefield, and "real" revivals (starting mid-June): 1st Great Awakening, (Whitefield, William Tennent (Founded Log College -- Became Princeton) His son, Gilbert Tennent, more the revivalist, Jonathan Edwards (THE Theologian of True and False Awakenings) and David Brainerd (Missionary Native Americans) in The Colonies (1735-1750ish)...

In Britain, Whitefield, Howell (pronounced, Huell) Harris, The lives of The Brothers Wesley, John & Charles; This was undoubtedly The Hand of God in preparing 50,000 for death in The Revolutionary War (Most that died would have either heard The Revivalists themselves or been under the influence of those converted growing up).

This was followed by a rapid decay (Only need ONE GENERATION of not teach the children, Deut 6:7, Judges 2:10-11...

The 2nd Great Awakening: Small beginnings --Methodist "Camp Meetings, 1790's with Francis Asbury (and somewhat Thomas Coke) in forming the "Circuit Riders" -- "Cane Ridge" 1801 -- Gave " Charles G Finney (for revival and conversion rate, not theology), D.L. Moody, MANY others in U.S. and Spurgeon, George MĂĽller, William and Catherine Booth and others in The UK and Northern Ireland, and The revival in Wales, 1904, (Evan Roberts & Others), Azusa Street, 1906, (William Seymour & Others), and most recently The Revival in Lewis, Heberdes, N.W. Scotland, 1949 (Chiefly Duncan Campbell and Others) -- I came to see the manifest presence of God is granted by "strict obedience and consecration" (Jesus, Garden, "I AM HE" they fell backwards, John 18:6, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever, Heb 13:8, works He did shall we do also, John 14:12, as in Acts in Upper Room (rushing Mighty Wind while they were all together in prayer, Acts 2:1-42) and after being threatened in Acts 4 where the place was shaken., Ananias & Saphira fell dead, Acts 5?... God bless in Jesus' Name, John 1:16, Eph 1:17-19, Eph 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3-7...

Edwards saw it, Whitefield, Brainerd among the Native Americans, Wesley on occasions, Finney (not a fan of his theology but again 74% of his converts "stuck" -- He saw mass convictions and Holy & Awesome God just flooring people more than the others it seems almost all the time).

We believe God can and will do it again. Pray for salvation of all, even authorities, so we may obey the Great Commission freely, unhindered, Acts 28:30, and may work for the night is coming when no one can, John 9:4.

Protection from temptation, Lk 11:4, temptation and evil, Matt 6:13, sin, wrongdoing, lies, fear, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 1 Cor 8:1, greed, 1 Tim 6:6, evil people, 2 Tim 3:5, w Thes 3:2, Deceivers, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, Deception and false prophets, Matt 24:4-14, persecution Rev 12:4-17, false signs, wonders, false "christs," 2 Cor 11:14-15, 2 Thes 2:8-10, 1 Jn 2:8, 1 Jn 4:3, Rev 13:13-14

[1]Duncan Campbell says it's essential to real conviction and deep repentance, underlines strict obedience to God's voice, Wesley saw it as well as Whitefield and Brainerd, but also Wesley's "follow up methods" (gained from rubbing shoulders with Zinzendorf and the Moravians who formed small groups called "Banden" [Bands]), Wesley duplicated that w/ "societies" and gained not only his and his fellow Methodists -- but also many of Whitefield's & Harris' converts (since they latter two were more evangelists, while Wesley was more an "apostolic figure" moving in Evangelism, Church Planter & Organizer, Teaching, Pastoring -- all quite freely). Thank You Father and all who pray and will be praying in advance until "Your Glory covers the earth," Num 14:21-22, Ps 72:19, Hab 2:14; and "the Lord's light shall shine on the righteous WHILE deep darkness is covering the earth, Isaiah 60:1-7, "And those that lead many to righteousness like the stars forever," Dan 12:3. Thank You for strength through prayer Eph 3:15-20, in Jesus' Name, Amen, Rev 3:14, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join you in this holy and weighty request before the Lord, for reformation, holiness, obedience and the manifest presence of God, and we say amen to your cry from Isaiah 64:1-2, Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence, as when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the water to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence.

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old, Psalm 44:1, and we take hold with you of the truth that God is no respecter of persons, Acts 10:34, and that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Heb 13:8. What He did among Brainerd and the Native Americans, among Patrick in Ireland, Cyril and Methodius among the Slavs, Carey and Carmichael in India, Hudson Taylor in China, Judson in Burma, Livingstone in Africa, Thomas in Korea, and in the Reformations through Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and Knox, and in the Great Awakenings through Whitefield, the Tennents, Edwards, the Wesleys and Howell Harris, and later through Asbury and the circuit riders, Cane Ridge, Finney, Moody, Spurgeon, Muller, the Booths, Evan Roberts in Wales, Seymour at Azusa Street, and Duncan Campbell in Lewis, He can do again, for with God all things are possible, Matt 19:26, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, Isa 59:1.

We agree with your wisdom in asking not merely for power but for purity first. We have seen in Scripture and in history that gifts are given but character is forged, and humility is indeed developed through suffering and obedience. We remember that even Jesus learned obedience by the things which he suffered, Heb 5:8, and that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble, James 4:6. Your discernment is right to ask for the fear of the Lord, for the fear of Yahweh is to hate evil, Prov 8:13, and the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, Prov 9:10. Many have fallen through gold, girls and glory, through fame, fortune and the flesh, because they sought power without holiness. We pray with you that God would first prepare our obedience, that we would be vessels for honor, sanctified, useful to the master, prepared for every good work, 2 Tim 2:21.

We affirm what you have observed, that the manifest presence of God comes upon strict obedience and entire consecration. When they continued steadfastly in prayer with one accord, suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting, Acts 2:1-2, and again when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together, Acts 4:31. When Jesus said I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground, John 18:6, and Ananias and Sapphira fell dead when they lied to the Holy Spirit, Acts 5:5, showing that the presence of a holy God is indeed a fearful thing, for our God is a consuming fire, Heb 12:29. Therefore we do not seek experience for its own sake, but we seek Him, that we may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, Phil 3:10.

We also hear your burden for the next generation, for you are right that it takes only one generation to forget, as it is written you shall teach them diligently to your children, Deut 6:7, and yet there arose another generation after them who didn’t know Yahweh, nor the work which he had done for Israel, Judges 2:10. We must be faithful to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints, Jude 1:3, and to follow the pattern of Wesley and the Moravians who formed bands and societies to preserve the fruit, lest the harvest be lost for lack of discipleship.

We pray together now in Jesus name.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, without whom no one comes to You, John 14:6, and in whom we have redemption through His blood, Eph 1:7, we ask You to rend the heavens and come down among us again. Forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us, Psalm 51:10. Grant us the fear of the Lord and a hatred for evil, pride, bitterness, greed, lust and deception. Keep us from temptation and deliver us from the evil one, Matt 6:13, and lead us not into temptation, Luke 11:4. Let us not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind, Rom 12:2, that we may prove what is Your good and acceptable and perfect will.

We ask for the fruit of the Spirit to abound in us, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control, Gal 5:22-23, and that You would keep us humble and lowly, remembering that knowledge puffs up, but love builds up, 1 Cor 8:1. Guard us from the love of money, for godliness with contentment is great gain, 1 Tim 6:6, and guard us from evil men and deceivers who will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived, 2 Tim 3:13, and from those having a form of godliness, but having denied its power, from these also turn away, 2 Tim 3:5. Deliver us from unreasonable and evil men, 2 Thess 3:2, and from false prophets and false Christs who will show great signs and wonders, Matt 24:24, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light, 2 Cor 11:14, and the coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2 Thess 2:9, and he performs great signs, Rev 13:13. Give us discernment to try the spirits, 1 John 4:1, and to not be led astray.

We pray for the salvation of all men, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:3-4. We pray for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence, 1 Tim 2:2, so that we may proclaim Your word with all boldness and without hindrance, Acts 28:31, while it is day, for the night is coming, when no one can work, John 9:4. Let Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea, Hab 2:14, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh, and let Your light arise upon us even as deep darkness covers the peoples, Isa 60:2, and those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the expanse, and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever, Dan 12:3.

We ask that You would strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in the inner person, Eph 3:16, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, Eph 3:17, and that we may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:19, according to Your riches in glory. Grant unto us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Eph 1:3, and the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, Eph 1:17, that Your divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, 2 Peter 1:3, and that we may partake of Your grace, John 1:16, and be faithful to add to our faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection and love, 2 Peter 1:5-7.

We thank You Father that all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us, 2 Cor 1:20, and He who is the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, Rev 3:14, will answer. Prepare us, consecrate us, and then come in power, that the mountains may quake and the nations tremble at Your presence, for Your glory and for the gathering in of souls, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We hear the deep hunger in your prayer for holiness, for real obedience, and for the weight of God's presence to be known again as in generations past. The way you have traced the stories of missionaries and reformers and revivals shows a heart that wants not just knowledge about what God has done, but to walk faithfully with Him now.

That desire for obedience tempered by humility and the fear of the Lord is wise. You named it well, the need to stay low before God even while asking for more of His power, and to stay guarded against the very real temptations that can come with influence. We join you in asking God to keep you rooted in reverence for Him, in hatred of what is evil, and in freedom from bitterness and greed and deception.

One thing that has helped many who have carried a similar burden is to not carry it alone. As you continue to pray for revival and for the salvation of many, keep meeting regularly with a few trusted believers who can pray with you, speak honestly with you, and help you stay accountable in obedience. That steady, shared prayer is often where God shapes humility and perseverance over time.

Father, we lift this brother to You. Prepare his heart in obedience and humility, guard him from temptation and deception, and let his life reflect Your holiness. Use his prayers for others and let Your glory be known in Your way and time. Strengthen him to keep seeking You faithfully. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for the manifest presence of God, for holiness and for an obedience that is strict and cheerful, has been laid before the Lord with thanksgiving. It is well that you begin where our fathers began, with the remembrance of what God has done, for He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever, and His arm is not shortened. Yet we must remember that the Lord links His own name with His house, and the law of that house is holiness. The temple becomes holy because God dwells in it, and His presence both demands and creates holiness. Where He comes in power, as in the upper room when the rushing mighty wind filled all the house, or as when the place was shaken after prayer, He comes to make His people holy. To ask for more of His weighty presence and not to ask for more holiness is to ask amiss.

You have judged rightly that obedience is the path by which the Lord is pleased to grant such visitations. Noah, moved with holy fear, hewed the trees and built the ark in brave defiance of the spirit of his age, and his fear wrought in him diligence and speed. So let your reply be, we no longer live in the region of argument as to the Word of the Lord, but we dwell in the realm of faith, bowing our whole minds to the obedience of faith. The exactness of obedience is the very essence of obedience. Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it, was the wise word spoken of old, and it remains wise still. Yet I preach to you not the obedience of a slave, tuned to the crack of the whip, nor the obedience of terror, but the obedience of a child, the obedience of love. Love is the mother of obedience, and the more of faith in Christ you have, the more of obedience to Him will you manifest. This obedience must begin at home and it must be cheerfully rendered, for nothing short of the obedience of the inner man, the unshaken belief that the Lord is right, is the obedience which the Lord desires. Men are never right by accident, nor obedient by chance, preparation of heart is wanted, and this the Lord must give.

You have traced the works of revivals from the days of Whitefield and Edwards and Brainerd to Wesley and Asbury, to Finney and Moody and Muller and Booth, to Wales and Azusa and Lewis. In all true revival the explanation is one and the same, an abundant outpouring of the Divine Spirit from the Lord our God, the Holy Spirit as the actual agent, the Word preached and the prayers of the people as the instruments. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this, not the zeal of man. In the present era there is a sad decline of the vitality of godliness, the age of form instead of the age of life, and the absence of sound doctrine and of solemn earnestness in pulpit and pew alike. Therefore the prayer of the Church ought to be one incessant and solemn liturgy, O Lord, revive Thy work. When Christ comes in power, His people say as John did, It is the Lord, and they know that no sinner is converted, no Bible class blessed, no soul added, except the Spirit of God goes with the Word.

You are wise also to tremble at the temptations which attend power, for you have noted well that gifts are given but humility is developed by suffering, as it was in David and John the Baptist and Peter and Paul, and even in our Lord's own path of sorrows. Many who were greatly used from the late years of the last century onward made shipwreck through gold and glory and lust, and the warning stands. For this cause we join you in praying for the fear of the Lord, which is the hatred of evil, and for freedom from bitterness and greed and lust and deception. The fear of death may drive the sinner, but it is not necessary to the saint, yet the fear of the Lord must abide in the saint, to keep him watchful and lowly.

We will pray for you as you have asked.

O Lord our God, who art mighty in the midst of Thy people, grant to these Thy servants a holy fear and a childlike obedience, that they may leave nothing undone which Thou hast commanded and add nothing of will worship to Thy perfect law. Create in them special communion with Thyself, and so create special holiness, that whether they eat or drink or whatsoever they do, they may do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Keep them from turning to the right hand or to the left, and make them very courageous to do what the Lord Jesus bids in all things.

Revive Thy work, O Lord, in the midst of the years. Pour out Thy Spirit again upon Thy Church, that sound doctrine and downright earnestness may return, and that the Word preached may be accompanied by Thy power. Save sinners, we beseech Thee, and save even those in authority, that we may live quiet and peaceable lives and obey the Great Commission freely and unhindered while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work. Let Thy glory cover the earth and let Thy light shine upon the righteous while deep darkness covers the peoples, and make those who turn many to righteousness to shine as the stars forever.

Keep them, O Lord, from temptation and deliver them from evil. Keep them from sin and wrongdoing, from lies and fear, from greed and from the love of money which is the root of all evil. Deliver them from evil men and from deceivers, from false prophets and false signs and wonders, and from every wind of doctrine which would lead them astray. Preserve them by Thy grace and strengthen them with might by Thy Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith.

We ask this not for our worthiness, but for the sake of Him who was moved with holy obedience even unto death, even Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your hunger for holiness and for the manifest presence of God has been received with thanksgiving, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

We hear in your prayer a right understanding that the presence of God is a holy and fearful thing, not to be sought lightly, and that it is given in the way of strict obedience and consecration. As you noted, Joseph when he was raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, showing a submissive mind and a soul awake to God in all things. So too we are called to obey not with eye service as those who please men, but in singleness of heart, fearing God, doing what is right even when no human eye sees us, because the sleepless Eye of God does. That is the obedience which prepares the heart to receive His blessing, for it is God who is the cause of all good things and who gives the increase, not the strength of our own hands.

We also hear your wise caution about power without humility and purity. You are right to ask for the fear of the Lord which is the hatred of evil, and for freedom from bitterness, greed, lust and deception. Holiness with us is not only turning from idols and outward sins, but being made holy in body and spirit through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, and by a life that follows peace and holiness without which no one will see the Lord. That holiness is perfected in the fear of God and is often formed through suffering, as you observed in the lives of David, Peter, Paul and others, so that we are not lifted up by gifts but kept low and dependent on Christ.

We will pray with you for what you have asked. We ask the Father who is the same yesterday, today and forever to grant to you and to His church a greater hunger for obedience, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and true humility. We ask Him to establish you according to the Gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, to make you steadfast and not wavering, and to keep you from temptation, from evil, from deceivers and false prophets, from false signs and wonders, and from all that would lead astray. We ask for protection from sin, wrongdoing, lies and fear, and for deliverance from greed and from evil people, that you may live quietly and godly and be free to obey the Great Commission.

We also join you in praying for the salvation of all people, including those in authority, that the Gospel may be proclaimed freely and without hindrance. We pray that as we recount the mercies of God and what we have been made partakers of through the blood of Christ, we would draw near with thanksgiving and abide in Him. And we take encouragement that God lengthens our supplication and at times permits trial not to harm us but to draw us to Himself, so that we learn to persevere in prayer. Though we do not receive at once, we continue to seek, and when we do receive we give thanks, knowing He desires to give and is teaching us to remain near Him.

May the Lord cut away excess and grant the salutary medicine of moderation, keep you in watchful prayer, and cover the earth with His glory as the waters cover the sea, while His light shines on the righteous. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom are all the promises of God, and to whom be glory forever. Amen.
