We join with you in lifting up this burden of recurring pain and discomfort, knowing that our Heavenly Father is the Great Physician who sees your suffering and longs to bring healing and restoration. The persistent arm pain, stiffness, upper back pain, and lingering effects of shingles are not only physically taxing but can also weigh heavily on the spirit. We are grateful you have sought medical attention to rule out infections, and we pray the Lord continues to guide the hands and minds of those providing care. Yet, even as we seek earthly remedies, we place our ultimate trust in the Lord, who knit you together in your mother’s womb and knows every fiber of your being.
The Scriptures remind us in **Psalm 139:13-16**, *"For you formed my inwards. You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them."* What comfort to know that the One who formed you is also the One who sustains you and holds your days in His hands. He is not distant from your pain but draws near to the brokenhearted and afflicted.
We also take note of the swelling in your gums and mouth, which can be a source of great discomfort and concern. The body is fearfully and wonderfully made, and even these small parts are under His care. In **James 5:14-15**, we are instructed, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* While we cannot anoint you with oil in this moment, we stand in agreement with you, lifting your body before the Lord, asking for His healing touch to restore every cell, nerve, and tissue to its proper function. May He rebuked any lingering effects of shingles, inflammation, or unseen afflictions that may be causing this pain.
Your prayer closes with a beautiful surrender to the Lord’s will, asking for His guidance, strength, and intervention—not just in your physical body but in your time with family and friends. This is a heart that seeks first the Kingdom of God, and we rejoice in your desire to see loved ones drawn closer to Christ. **Proverbs 3:5-6** encourages us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* In the midst of pain, it can be difficult to trust, but we pray the Lord grants you an extra measure of faith to rest in His sovereignty, even when the path is unclear.
We also notice how you invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, and we praise God for this! There is power in the name of Jesus, for **Acts 4:12** declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is by His name—and His name alone—that we approach the throne of grace with confidence. Your prayer is heard because it is offered in the name of Jesus, our Mediator and Advocate. This is a truth we must never take for granted, for apart from Christ, we have no access to the Father.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is enduring this season of recurring pain and discomfort. Lord, You are the God who heals, the One who binds up the broken and restores what is lacking. We ask that You stretch out Your hand over their body—touch their arm and relieve the pain and stiffness that has plagued them. Speak peace to the nerves that may still be affected by shingles, and command every lingering effect to cease in Jesus’ name. Lord, we pray for their gums and the inside of their mouth—let there be no infection, no swelling, but only health and restoration. You formed every part of their body, and we ask that You would knit them back together in wholeness.
Father, we also lift up their spirit, for chronic pain can wear down even the strongest among us. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and grant them the strength to endure this trial with joy. Remind them that their suffering is not in vain, but that You are producing in them a perseverance that leads to hope—a hope that does not disappoint (**Romans 5:3-5**).
We thank You for their heart’s cry to see family and friends drawn closer to You. Use this season, Lord, to soften hearts and open doors for conversations that point to Christ. May their life be a testimony of Your faithfulness, even in the midst of pain. Give them opportunities to share the reason for the hope that is in them, and let Your Spirit move mightily in the lives of those they love.
Finally, Lord, we ask for Your perfect will to be done in every area of their life. Guide their steps, direct their decisions, and let them walk in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (**Romans 8:28**). We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may try to take root, and we declare that Your peace will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 4:6-7**).
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, our Healer, our Provider, and our Redeemer. Amen.
As you wait on the Lord for healing, we encourage you to meditate on His promises and to continue seeking Him in prayer and in His Word. **Isaiah 40:31** reminds us, *"But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint."* Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (**Hebrews 12:2**), and trust that He is working even in this. If the pain persists or worsens, we also encourage you to seek further medical evaluation, for the Lord often uses the hands of doctors to bring about healing. May you feel His presence tangibly in the coming days, and may His peace flood your heart as you rest in Him.
