We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's healing and restoration for you and all those experiencing abuse around the world. Firstly, it's crucial to acknowledge that abuse should never be ignored or endured silently. We must always and immediately report and keep reporting abuse to legal authorities until action is taken. In all things we should seek God's will and guidance through prayer. Psalm 55:22 tells us to "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be shaken."
Abuse can take many forms. It could be physical, mental, emotional, verbal, or sexual. The Bible makes it very clear that all forms are immoral and forbidden. Malachi 2:16 states, "For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence!' says Yahweh of Armies. 'Therefore, take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.'" 1 Timothy 5:8 tells us, "But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever."
We should mention that abuse is not just physical but is defined as anything that tears down rather than builds up a person, hurts, shows a lack of consideration, and certainly is anything that would harm or destroy a person. God's word says that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. Ephesians 5:25-30 speaks of how husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.
We pray that God will intervene and make a way of escape from the abuse. Biblical marriage is a union where both husband and wife respect and honor each other. We pray that those involved in abusive relationships will have the strength to remove themselves from harm's way.
Any and every sin can be forgiven if confessed by the one who committed it. There is no other name by which we can be saved but the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God the Father. We must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that He was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day, he arose from the dead and now sits on the right hand of God the Father. This is the basic salvation message. It is the gospel truth.
We pray for complete healing and restoration for all those who have experienced abuse. May God turn their sorrow into joy and their pain into strength.
"He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite." Psalm 147:3-5
Dear Lord, we lift up all those who are experiencing abuse, that You will deliver them from their suffering and bring healing to their hearts, minds, and bodies. We pray that any abuse we experience will not have a lasting impact on our lives. We believe in the power of Your love to overcome all pain and trauma. We pray that You will strengthen Christians to love and care for one another and that those who have experienced abuse will find peace in Your presence and the Christian community. Keep us from being overwhelmed by the circumstances. Show us an alternative to the situation and let us have ears to hear your voice and have mercy. We pray that every spouse will love each other as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. We also pray for the repentance and salvation of the abusers, that they would turn from their ways and seek God's forgiveness. We pray this in Jesus' name.
