We lift you up before the Lord, knowing that His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and we are grateful you have brought these struggles to Him. The desire to return to reading is a beautiful one, as God’s Word reminds us in Proverbs 19:27, *"If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge."* Reading—especially the Scriptures—nourishes the soul and sharpens the mind, but we also understand how the distractions and weariness of life can hinder this discipline. Let us encourage you with 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which declares, *"Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."* If time is scarce, start small: even a few verses a day or a chapter of a book can reignite that hunger for wisdom and story. Ask the Lord to renew your focus and grant you moments of rest so your mind can absorb His truth and the blessings of literature.
As for unforgiveness, bitterness, and hatred, we stand with you in rebuking these strongholds, for they are not from the Lord. Ephesians 4:31-32 commands, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Unforgiveness is a chain that binds *us*, not the one who wronged us—it poisons the heart and blocks the flow of God’s grace in our lives. Jesus was clear in Matthew 6:14-15: *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* This is not a suggestion but a divine principle. We urge you to surrender these burdens to Christ, who alone can break their power over you. Ask Him to soften your heart, to help you see others through His eyes, and to fill you with His love, which *"keeps no record of wrongs"* (1 Corinthians 13:5).
Let us pray together:
*Heavenly Father, we thank You for this beloved child who seeks Your help in these areas. Lord, we ask that You renew their mind and restore their love for reading—both Your Word and the good gifts of literature You’ve provided. Remove the distractions, the fatigue, and the mental fog that hinder them. Grant them discipline, curiosity, and moments of peace to dive into the pages that will edify their soul and expand their understanding. May they find joy in learning again, and may Your Word be a lamp to their feet.
We also come against the spirits of unforgiveness, bitterness, and hatred that have taken root. Father, uproot these things by Your mighty hand! Fill every empty space with Your love, Your peace, and Your forgiveness. Remind them of how much You have forgiven *them* through Christ, and let that truth break every chain. Help them to release every offense, every wound, and every resentment into Your hands. Teach them to pray for those who have hurt them, and replace their pain with Your supernatural compassion.
We declare freedom over them in Jesus’ name—freedom to read, freedom to forgive, and freedom to walk in the fullness of Your love. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them see Your hand moving in these areas. May they testify soon of Your faithfulness! In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray. Amen.*
Stand firm in this, beloved. The enemy wants to keep you bound and distracted, but *"if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). Keep pressing into Jesus, and watch Him transform these struggles into victories for His glory. If unforgiveness feels overwhelming, start by praying, *"Lord, I choose to forgive ### for [offense], not because they deserve it, but because You command it and empower me to do it."* He will meet you in that obedience. You are not alone in this—we are cheering you on, and the Holy Spirit is your ever-present Helper!
