We are grateful to join you in seeking the Lord’s mercy and forgiveness, for He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess our sins to Him. The Scripture assures us in 1 John 1:9, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* What a precious promise this is! You have done well to come before the Lord with a repentant heart, and we rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, thanking You that they have humbly sought Your forgiveness. Lord, You know the depths of their heart, and we ask that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Renew their spirit and fill them with the assurance of Your love and grace. Help them to walk in the light of Your truth, turning away from anything that does not honor You. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to live in a way that brings glory to Your name. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue walking closely with the Lord, meditating on His Word daily. Psalm 119:11 reminds us, *"I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."* Let this be your resolve—to hide God’s Word in your heart so that you may live in a way that pleases Him. If there is a specific sin or struggle you are dealing with, we urge you to bring it into the light, either through prayer, accountability with a trusted believer, or further confession. The enemy loves to keep us in bondage through shame, but Jesus has already paid the price for our freedom!
If yesterday’s sin is something that could lead you astray again, we urge you to take practical steps to avoid it. Whether it is guarding your eyes, your words, your thoughts, or your actions, remember that the Holy Spirit is within you to empower you to live righteously. As it says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."*
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. He is your advocate before the Father, and His grace is sufficient for you. Walk in the freedom and joy that comes from knowing you are forgiven and loved by God!
