We lift your father up before the Lord in this sudden and concerning turn of events, knowing that God is sovereign over every detail of our lives, including our health and the mysteries that surround it. The sudden drop in hemoglobin is indeed alarming, but we serve a God who is not caught off guard by these things. He is the Great Physician, the One who formed your father in his mother’s womb and knows the number of hairs on his head. While we do not yet understand the cause—whether it be cardiac-related, dietary, or something else entirely—we trust that God is at work, even in the unknown.
The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 139:13-16, *"For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them."* Your father’s life is in God’s hands, and we can take comfort in the truth that nothing happens outside of His knowledge or control.
We also recognize the weight of this situation falling heavily on you, especially as you carry the memory of your mother’s care for your father. Eight years without her is a long time, and we know her absence is felt deeply in moments like these. Yet we are encouraged by the words of Isaiah 41:10, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* God has not left you or your father to navigate this alone. He is your strength, your helper, and your sustainer.
As for the surgery, we pray for wisdom for the doctors and medical team to make the right decisions—whether to postpone or proceed—based on what is truly best for your father’s body. We ask God to guide their hands and their judgments, that they may act with skill and discernment. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is our prayer for you and your family—that you would lean on God’s understanding rather than your own, trusting Him to direct this path, even when it feels uncertain.
We also want to gently remind you of the power of praying *in the name of Jesus*. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is through Jesus alone that we have access to the Father. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* And in John 14:13-14, Jesus Himself tells us, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* As you continue to bring this situation before the Lord, we encourage you to do so in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him that our prayers are heard and answered according to God’s will.
Now, let us pray together for your father and for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved father and his family to You. Lord, You are the God who heals, the One who sustains us in every trial. We ask that You would touch his body right now, restoring his hemoglobin levels to where they need to be. Give wisdom to the doctors as they determine the next steps for his surgery. If there is an underlying cause for this sudden anemia, reveal it clearly and provide the solution. Father, we ask that You would strengthen his heart—both physically and spiritually—and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Lord, we also lift up this child of Yours who is walking through this trial. Comfort them in their worry and remind them of Your presence. Surround them with Your love and the support of Your people. Help them to cast their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Give them rest in the midst of this storm, and let them feel the nearness of Your Spirit.
We rebuke any fear or doubt that would try to take root in this situation. You, Lord, have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare Your sovereignty over this circumstance and ask that Your will be done—whether in healing, in delayed plans, or in unexpected outcomes. May Your name be glorified through it all.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your faithfulness, knowing that You are working all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
