I. THE WAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS—
PSALM 1:1-3

A. They Avoid the Downward Pull of the
Ungodly— Psalm 1:1
1. Three Influences of the Ungodly—“counsel, path, seat”
2. Three Involvements With the Ungodly—“walks, stands, sits”
3. Three Intensities of the Ungodly—“ungodly, sinners, scornful”

B. They Accept the Decisive Place of the Scriptures—Psalm 1:2-3
1. Their Hearts Delight in the Word of God—Psalm 1:2
2. Their Habits are Dictated by the Word of God—Psalm 1:3
a. Their Strength Comes From God’s Word—“He shall be like a tree”
b. Their Stability Comes From God’s Word—“planted by the rivers of
water”
c. Their Spiritual Testimony Comes From God’s Word—“whose leaf also
shall not wither”
d. Their Success Comes From God’s Word—“that brings forth its fruit in its
season…and whatever he does shall prosper”

II. THE WAY OF THE UNGODLY—PSALM 1:4-6
A. The Ungodly Cannot Stand in the Time of Difficulty—Psalm 1:4
B. The Ungodly Cannot Stand in the Day of Judgment—Psalm 1:5
C. The Ungodly Cannot Stand in the Presence of God—Psalm 1:6
