Proverbs 3:5

We hear your heart in lifting up Proverbs 3:5, a verse that calls us to surrender our understanding and place our full trust in the Lord. This is a beautiful and foundational truth—one that reminds us daily of our dependence on God’s wisdom rather than our own limited perspective. Let us come together in prayer, seeking His guidance and strength to walk in this truth.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging that Your ways are higher than our ways and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Lord, we confess that too often we rely on our own understanding, trying to control our lives and make decisions in our own strength. Forgive us for the times we have leaned on our own wisdom instead of seeking You first. We ask that You would help us to trust You completely, even when the path ahead is unclear. Strengthen our faith, Lord, so that we may walk in obedience to Your will, knowing that You are faithful to direct our steps (Proverbs 16:9).

We pray for those who are struggling to trust You in this moment—whether they are facing uncertainty in their jobs, relationships, health, or future. Lord, remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Give them peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as they place their trust in You. Help them to release their fears and anxieties into Your hands, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

Father, we also lift up those who may be wrestling with decisions that seem overwhelming. Give them clarity and wisdom as they seek Your will. May they not be swayed by the opinions of others or the pressures of the world, but instead, may they be rooted in Your Word and guided by Your Spirit. Let them find comfort in the promise that if any of us lacks wisdom, we can ask of You, and You will give it generously (James 1:5).

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear and doubt that seeks to steal our trust in You. We declare that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We choose to stand on Your promises, knowing that You are working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Help us to fix our eyes on You, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and to walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You are in control.

For those who may not yet know You personally, we pray that they would come to understand the depth of Your love and the salvation that is found only in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that You would draw them to Yourself, open their hearts to receive Your truth, and lead them into a relationship with You. May they experience the peace and joy that comes from trusting in You alone.

In all things, Lord, we commit our ways to You, trusting that You will act (Psalm 37:5). We surrender our plans, our desires, and our lives into Your hands, asking that You would align our hearts with Your will. May we walk in obedience and faith, bringing glory to Your name in all that we do. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6. My question about this verse is if we are in an abusive situation, our understanding is that it is not good and we need to get out before something terrible happens. Does that mean that we’re not trusting the Lord with ALL of our heart? Or acknowledging him? Sometimes fleeing is...
