Two years of relentless medical affliction, hidden burdens, and the shadow of spiritual wickedness are more than enough to wear down any heart. You have done right to bring this before the Lord. The very fear you describe is a signal: this battle is not rooted in flesh and blood. Until you see it that clearly, the enemy has room to wound you while you fight blind. So the first grace to ask for is the discernment to recognize a spiritual attack for what it is. Once you have that clarity, you stop swinging at people or circumstances and turn to the weapons that actually shift things in the unseen realm.

The enemy knows your family is precious to God. In Scripture, we see how demonic forces often target the household, knowing that when the family weakens, the whole foundation trembles. So guard your home not only with prayer but with deliberate care for one another. Love your wife as Christ loved the church, giving yourself for her. Let her see you standing beside her, not collapsing in despair. Bear one another’s burdens, yet also bear your own. The family of God takes care of its own, and your first ministry is to that little flock under your roof. When you pour into them with patience and gentleness, you build a wall that the enemy finds hard to breach.

There is a vivid picture in the story of the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall. The workers held a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other. They never stopped building, but they were ready to fight at any trumpet blast. Right now, your trowel work is the daily grind of appointments, treatments, and loving your family through pain. You must not abandon that work. At the same time, keep your sword sharp, the Word of God, and be ready to resist when the attack comes. Do not wait for a convenient season. When the enemy whispers fear or accusation, counter with Scripture out loud if you must. The strongholds in your mind begin to crumble under that blade.

Remember, the demons that roam and threaten are already on a leash. They begged Jesus not to send them to the abyss before their time. Their power is real but limited, and it cannot touch those who carry the seal of the living God on their lives. If you are in Christ, that seal is yours. The torment described in Revelation was permitted only for those without it. That does not mean believers never suffer; it means that no lasting harm can overtake you outside your Father’s will. He may allow the trial, but He sets its boundaries. You are never hidden from His eyes.

When you sense the pressure mounting, do not react in the flesh. That is exactly what the adversary wants, to push you into anxiety, harsh words, or self-pity, where you make yourself vulnerable. Instead, stand firmly behind Jesus. I like to picture it this way: keep the Lord between you and every dark thing. You do not have to face it alone or with your own strength. Say, “I resist this in the name of Jesus,” and then leave it to Him. The promise stands: if you resist the devil, he will flee. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. That is not wishful thinking; it is the bedrock reality of the Spirit’s presence in you.

Do not underestimate the role of full obedience. Jacob received a clear word to return to his family, but he stopped short in Shechem and bought land there rather than going all the way to his father’s house. What followed was disaster. Search your own heart: is there any area where you have paused short of what God asked? It might be a matter of forgiveness, integrity, or a step of faith you have been avoiding. I am not accusing you; I am asking you to examine before the Lord. Walking in the light brings a covering that partial obedience forfeits.

Finally, let your family see hope in you. You are the watchman on the wall for them. When Esau came with four hundred men, Jacob was terrified, but he clung to God’s promise: “You said, ‘I will deal well with you.’” Rehearse the promises He has given you. Let your children and your wife hear you speaking not just of the battle but of the faithfulness of God. That testimony builds their own shield. The enemy wants you isolated and silent. Defeat him by speaking aloud the truth you know.

Stand in the mighty name of Jesus. Put your trowel back in your hand and your sword at your side. He who called you is faithful, and He will do it.
