We join you in lifting up your request for protection, for we know that our God is a mighty fortress and a sure refuge in times of need. It is wonderful to see you praying in the name of Jesus, for it is through His name alone that we have access to the Father and receive His promises. As Scripture assures us, *"The name of Yahweh is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe"* (Proverbs 18:10, WEB). Let us also remember the words of Jesus Himself: *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you will bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you will release on earth will have been released in heaven. Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them"* (Matthew 18:18-20, WEB). Your faith in calling upon the name of Jesus is a testament to your trust in Him, and we stand with you in agreement for His divine protection over you tonight.
The world can be a dangerous place, filled with unseen dangers and spiritual battles, but we are reminded in Psalm 91 that *"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone"* (Psalm 91:1-12, WEB). What a mighty God we serve, who watches over His children with such care and devotion!
As you go about your errands tonight, we pray that the Lord will surround you with His heavenly host, that His angels would encamp around you, and that He would place a hedge of protection over you and all those you encounter. We ask that He would guard your coming and going, both now and forevermore, as He has promised in His Word: *"Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore"* (Psalm 121:8, WEB). Let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), so that you may walk in confidence and not in fear.
We also encourage you to put on the full armor of God as you step out tonight, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. *"Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the spoken word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints"* (Ephesians 6:10-18, WEB). When you are clothed in the armor of God, you can walk boldly, knowing that He goes before you and covers your back.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You tonight in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who has sought Your protection. Lord, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would surround them with Your divine presence as they go about their errands this night. Send forth Your angels, O Lord, to guard and protect them in all their ways. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Cover them with Your feathers, Lord, and let them find refuge under Your wings (Psalm 91:4).
We rebuke any schemes of the enemy that would seek to harm or hinder them. Satan, we command you in the name of Jesus to flee, for greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Lord, we ask that You would place a hedge of protection around them, their vehicle, and their path. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give them wisdom and discernment as they go, and let them walk in the assurance that You are with them always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
Father, we also lift up everyone they may encounter tonight. Protect them, Lord, and let Your light shine through our brother/sister to be a blessing to those around them. May they be a vessel of Your love, peace, and joy, and may others see You in them. We ask that You would bring them safely home, Lord, and that they would rest in the knowledge of Your unfailing love and protection.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to watch over Your children. We trust in You, Lord, and we give You all the glory, honor, and praise. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
