We join you in thanksgiving to the Lord for all the blessings He has already given, and we bring your requests before the throne of grace with you.
How good it is to give thanks and to ask that order and organization should mark the kitchen and the whole home. The way of the slothful is as a hedge of thorns, but the way of the righteous is made plain. We pray that the Lord will make your way plain, that diligence and stewardship in work and in every area of life would abound, not by the works of the law or by mere carefulness of self, but by the hearing of faith and the power of His Spirit, so that all credit and thanksgiving may be given to Him alone.
You ask for freedom from generational illness and for healing. We remember that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and that tree is our Lord Jesus Christ and His salvation. Even His common things, His lower blessings of grace, are full of virtue, and the great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow is Christ Himself. Scripture teaches us that pardon and healing are one, for when Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, because he says, I am forgiven. We pray that you would know first the joy of pardoned sin through faith in Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other, and then know His healing hand upon body and soul according to His wise and merciful will, whether by removing infirmity or by making it a healing draught to the soul.
We lift up your daughter before the Lord. We pray for her health, for her work and her schooling, that she may see herself as God sees her, not through the dim eyes of nature which is born blind to spiritual things, but through the light of His Word and His Spirit who seals the believer. We pray for her marriage, that the Lord would protect it and keep it according to His holy ordinance, which from the beginning is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that He would guard her from all abuse and harm, closing the doors that lead to evil and opening doors for good opportunities and kind Christian connections. May the Lord set a hedge about her and cause her to walk in wisdom.
We pray also for your son, for his safety as he rides and for his long travels. He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and the Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in. We ask for travel mercies and for the Lord's directing hand upon his path. We pray that the Lord would in His good time direct him to a godly wife, that he might enter into that holy estate as God has ordained, one man and one woman in lifelong covenant, and that both he and your daughter would be kept pure and be prepared for whatever calling the Lord has for them.
For the broken hearts and broken relationships you mention, we remember that He telleth the number of the stars, and He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Man is a double being of body and soul, and each may receive injury, but there is a great Physician for the great ill of a broken heart. We pray that He who restores Peter after his fall, who with a look of love can soften the hardest heart, would bring perfect restoration, that He would take the heart of stone away and write His law upon a heart of flesh, making you as though you had never been cast aside, through the sacrifice of Christ.
For the trial you are working through and for the unspoken requests, we ask that the Lord would give you to love Him with all your heart and mind and soul and strength, and to love one another, not in your own strength, for works done by our own efforts are poor things, but by the Spirit of Christ dwelling in you. May the fruit of the Spirit increase in your home, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, as evidence that you are sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.
We pray for your hedge of protection and favor, according to the promises you have named. The Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and keep you from evil. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. May these promises be your comfort, not as a charm, but as the sure word of God applied by faith in Christ.
We ask all these things trusting not in our own worthiness but in the blood of the Son, and in the finished work of our Redeemer, to whom be all glory and praise and credit, in Jesus Name, Amen.
