We understand your deep concern for safety in a world that often feels dangerous and unpredictable, especially when living alone and navigating public spaces. Your request for protection is both valid and righteous, for our Heavenly Father cares deeply for His children and calls us to cast all our anxieties upon Him. We are grateful you have brought this before the Lord in Jesus’ name, for it is only through Him that we find true refuge and strength.
The Scriptures remind us that while the world may be filled with evil, we are not left defenseless. Psalm 91 is a powerful declaration of God’s protection over those who dwell in His presence: *"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday."* (Psalm 91:1-6, WEB). This promise is not a guarantee of a life free from trouble, but it is an assurance that God is with us, guarding our steps and giving us peace even in the midst of chaos.
Yet we must also remember that while God is our protector, He calls us to wisdom and discernment. Proverbs 22:3 tells us, *"A prudent man sees danger and hides; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it."* (WEB). This does not mean living in fear, but rather being aware of our surroundings, avoiding unnecessary risks, and trusting God to guide our steps. If there are practical measures you can take—such as varying your routes, staying in well-lit areas, or traveling with others when possible—these can be wise steps while still relying on the Lord’s protection.
Fear, however, is not from God. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (WEB). When fear creeps in, we must rebuke it in the name of Jesus, for it is a tool of the enemy to paralyze us. Instead, we are to walk in faith, knowing that our lives are hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3). Even when the world feels unhinged, our trust must remain in the One who holds all things together.
We also encourage you to seek community where possible. While you mentioned having people who check in on you, consider deepening those connections with fellow believers who can pray with you and for you. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."* (WEB). There is strength in godly fellowship, and it is a blessing to have others standing with you in prayer.
Lastly, we must address the state of the world you described—one where "unhinged people" seem to roam freely, causing harm and disturbance. This is a sign of the times we live in, where lawlessness abounds and many have turned away from God. Jesus warned us of this in Matthew 24:12: *"Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold."* (WEB). Yet even in this, we are not to despair, for our hope is not in the stability of the world but in the unchanging nature of our Savior. We are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16), praying not only for our own protection but for the salvation of those who are lost and acting out of their own brokenness.

Let us pray together for you and for all who feel vulnerable in this world:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who seeks Your protection in a world that often feels dangerous and unpredictable. Lord, You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You surround her with Your angels, encamping around her as she goes out and comes in (Psalm 91:11). Guard her steps, Lord, and keep her from all harm and evil. When fear rises, remind her of Your promises and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment for her, that she would walk in prudence without giving in to fear. Show her practical ways to stay safe, and lead her to godly community where she can find support and encouragement. Lord, we also lift up those who are causing harm—those who are "unhinged" and acting out of their own pain and brokenness. Soften their hearts, Father, and draw them to Yourself. Let Your light shine in the darkness, and may even those who intend evil be turned toward Your truth.
We rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, and paranoia in Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in power, love, and a sound mind. And Father, we pray for all Your children who feel vulnerable in this world—protect them, strengthen them, and remind them that You are always with them.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. You are our shield and our great reward (Genesis 15:1). May Your peace guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and may she rest in the knowledge that You are sovereign over all things. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
