Protection from spiritual attacks, healing, financial breakthrough

You ask for protection from spiritual attacks. Where does such protection begin, if not in the careful hearing of the word and a continual recollection of it? The soul must not be soft and unmanly, nor remiss and careless; one part of virtue alone is not sufficient for our salvation. Fortitude is required, and deliverance from all worldly things. When the enemy assails, it is the rooted word, remembered and clung to in the day of trial, that becomes your rampart. God often permits the attack not to push us into dangers, but to set us above dangers, granting us more than had He not allowed the struggle. For what is it to be merely delivered from the assault, compared to learning to despise the power behind it?

For healing in body and mind, understand the true nature of your sickness. We discourse on these things not willingly, but of necessity, wishing to apply a little medicine and deliver you from your disease. The great Physician does not always promise deliverance from the suffering itself. He allows us to experience it, so that we might obtain a better resurrection, a healing deeper than the body’s relief. As a tree may receive ten strokes and not fall, then be brought down by a single blow, so the soul often seems insensible to many remedies, yet afterwards shows abundant fruit. Do not despair if health does not return at once. That eager desire of spirit, that love of hearing, will not fail of its effect. God forbid!

And what of this cry for a financial breakthrough? Let us speak plainly. It is not enough to be freed from the lack of riches; we must cultivate contempt for riches themselves. Many seek deliverance from poverty when they should be seeking deliverance from the love of money, which is a more grievous bondage. What if your storehouse remains modest, yet you are no longer soft, anxious, and tied to worldly cares? Is not that the truer breakthrough? Consider what God has already wrought by the Incarnation: He has delivered you from the curse and promoted you to sonship, putting on you Christ the Son and giving you the Spirit of adoption. Is that inheritance not enough while you wait? Do not seek a deliverance that merely comforts the flesh for a moment, but one that fixes your mind on the immortality of the soul. If they tortured others and they did not accept deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection, will you not trust the Father’s provision even if the money does not flow as you wish? The measure of His supply is not in coin, but in conforming you to the image of His Son.

The enemy never stops looking for a way to drain your hope or draw you away from the truth. But the weapons God gives are not physical; they are spiritual and mighty through Him. When the attacks come against your mind or your body or your finances, your first response can be the same one Jesus used in the wilderness: the Word of God. He met every assault with “It is written,” and Satan had no foothold in Him. So hide the promises of Scripture in your heart. When you feel accused or overwhelmed, declare what God has said. The shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit are real, and they work every time you deliberately trust the finished work of Christ instead of listening to the lie.

As for healing, do not let anyone lock you into a single pattern. Jesus healed the dying child from a distance, spoke a word to the centurion’s servant, touched Peter’s mother‑in‑law, and allowed the woman with the issue of blood to draw out His power simply by faith. Sometimes the healing is instantaneous and you feel it surge through you. I remember waking up one Sunday so ill I could not stand, and as I lay there the Lord’s healing presence swept over me so strongly that I jumped out of bed fully restored. Other times the healing is gradual, unfolding day by day through the processes God built into our bodies. Both are divine. And do not overlook the healing of the mind. Jesus is just as able to mend the wounds no one sees, the scars on the emotions, and the places where the enemy has tried to wear you down through depression or anxiety. Isaiah says He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows; that includes the heavy weight you are carrying now.

Financial struggle often feels like a direct attack, and the enemy uses it to erode faith. Yet God owns everything, and He is not stingy. Think of the people Jesus drew around Him: a woman delivered from seven demons, fishermen, and a man who managed Herod’s entire financial affairs. God brought provision from unexpected places. He knows your need before you ask. The breakthrough you are seeking is not just about money; it is about seeing that your Father is your source, and He will not abandon you. Seek His kingdom and His righteousness above all else, and the things you need will be added. In the meantime, do not neglect the practical steps. Nehemiah prayed earnestly, but he also set a watch day and night. So pray, and then take whatever practical action wisdom directs.

I am praying with you now: that every spirit of fear, infirmity, and poverty must bow to the name of Jesus Christ; that healing would flow into your body and your mind; and that God would open a door no enemy can shut. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
