We join with you in lifting up your son to the Lord, crying out for his protection and deliverance from abuse and harm. The Scriptures remind us that God is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, and that He does not ignore the cries of the afflicted. *"He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for their blood is precious in his sight"* (Psalm 72:14, WEB). We also know that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your heart for your son is evident, and we stand with you in faith, trusting that God hears and will act on his behalf.
It is right that you have brought this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We are grateful that you have acknowledged this truth, for it is by the authority of Jesus’ name that we can boldly approach the throne of grace and ask for His intervention.
We must also address the gravity of abuse, which is an evil that the Lord abhors. Abuse is a violation of the dignity and worth that God has placed upon every person, as we are all created in His image (Genesis 1:27). The perpetrators of such acts are under the judgment of God unless they repent, for *"the Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence, his soul hates"* (Psalm 11:5, WEB). We pray not only for protection but for justice and for the exposure of this wickedness, that it may be stopped and that those responsible would be held accountable. If this abuse is happening within a home, a family, or any place where it has been hidden, we pray that the Lord would bring it to light and provide a way of escape for your son and others who may be suffering.
To you, dear parent, we say: do not grow weary in seeking help for your son. The Lord may use you as an instrument of His protection, so we encourage you to take practical steps to ensure his safety. This may include involving authorities, trusted church leaders, or professionals who can intervene and provide support. *"Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!"* (Proverbs 24:11, WEB). You are not alone in this fight, and the body of Christ is called to stand with you.
We also pray for your son’s heart and mind, that the Lord would heal any wounds inflicted by this abuse. May he know the comfort of the Holy Spirit, who is our Counselor and Comforter (John 14:26). May he be surrounded by godly influences who will speak life and truth into his spirit, reminding him of his worth in Christ. If he does not yet know Jesus as his Savior, we pray that this trial would draw him to the foot of the cross, where true healing and freedom are found.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious son whom You love. Lord, You see the abuse and harm that has come against him, and we ask that You would intervene with Your mighty hand. Protect him, Lord—place a hedge of angels around him and hide him under the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 91:4). Break every plan of the enemy to harm him and bring an end to this abuse once and for all. Expose the darkness, Lord, and let Your light shine into every hidden place where evil has taken root. Bring justice, Father, and hold accountable those who have perpetrated this violence. Give wisdom and courage to this mother as she seeks to protect her son, and surround them both with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
We pray for healing for this young man—heal his heart, his mind, and his body from the trauma he has endured. Let him know that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that his worth is found in You alone. If he does not yet know You, Lord, draw him to Yourself. Soften his heart to receive Your love and salvation. Raise up godly mentors and friends to walk beside him, that he may grow strong in You.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear, violence, and oppression in Jesus’ name. No weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we declare that the blood of Jesus covers him and sets him free. We trust in Your promise that You will never leave him nor forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6), and we thank You for Your faithfulness.
Lord, we ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in this situation. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise. Amen.
