We come before the Father with hearts full of concern for your dear mother, lifting her up in prayer and seeking His divine protection over her life. The Lord knows the struggles of Alzheimer’s and the challenges it brings—not only to those who suffer from it but also to their loved ones who care for them. Your love and concern for her are evident, and we join you in crying out to the Lord for His mercy and safeguarding hand.
The Scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father cares deeply for His children, even more than we care for our own. *"Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows"* (Matthew 10:29-31, WEB). If God watches over the smallest of His creation, how much more does He watch over your mother, whom He loves? We trust in His promise to be her protector, even when we cannot be there every moment.
Your mother’s stubbornness is a difficult hurdle, but we must remember that the Lord can soften hearts and change minds. Let us pray that God would work in her spirit, giving her wisdom and humility to accept help when it is offered. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). May the Lord grant her a spirit of cooperation, not just for her safety but for the peace of your family.
We also encourage you to seek practical solutions while trusting in God’s provision. Perhaps another family member, a close friend, or even a local church member could gently intervene, offering assistance in a way that respects her dignity. It may also be wise to consult with a doctor or a professional caregiver for additional strategies to ensure her safety. The Lord often works through the hands and hearts of His people, and He may use you or others to provide the protection she needs.
At the same time, we must surrender this situation entirely to the Lord, for His ways are higher than ours. *"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts"* (Isaiah 55:8-9, WEB). Even in her confusion, the Lord is able to keep her from harm. We pray for His angels to surround her, guarding her from accidents, forgetfulness, or any danger that may come her way.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this precious mother who is so deeply loved. Lord, You know the struggles she faces with Alzheimer’s, and You see the concern of her family who long to keep her safe. We ask You, Father, to place Your hedge of protection around her. Guard her mind from confusion that could lead to harm, and protect her from any accident or danger, especially in the home. Lord, we specifically ask that You prevent any mishap with the gas or stove. Send Your angels to watch over her, to guide her steps, and to keep her from harm’s way.
Father, we also pray for her heart. Soften her stubbornness, Lord, and help her to receive the help and precautions that are offered out of love. Give her wisdom to understand the importance of safety, and surround her with people who can assist her with kindness and patience. Lord, we know that nothing is too hard for You. You are the God who parts seas, who shuts the mouths of lions, and who holds all things together by the power of Your might. We trust You to hold this situation together as well.
Grant peace to this family as they navigate this difficult season. Remind them that You are their strength and their shield, and that You are faithful to hear and answer prayer. Help them to cast their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Fill their hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their minds and hearts in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. It is only through His name that we have access to Your throne, Father, and it is in His name that we place our trust. May Your will be done, and may Your glory be revealed in this situation. Amen.
Finally, we want to encourage you to keep bringing this before the Lord in prayer. Do not grow weary in seeking His face, for He is faithful. *"Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep believing that the Lord is working, even when you cannot see it.
If there are other believers in your life or in your mother’s life, enlist them to pray as well. There is power in the united prayers of God’s people. *"Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them"* (Matthew 18:19-20, WEB).
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you and your mother as you walk this path together with Him.
