Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer rises from a deep concern for the honor of God’s name and the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is a right foundation. Scripture is clear that the Father desires all people to honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. So to long for Christ to be exalted and for every rival claim to fall silent is not only natural but commanded.
We must never lose sight of the fact that God has already established His final answer. He has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. No human plan, no movement of nations, no spiritual darkness can overturn this eternal decree. The hour of the cross seemed like defeat, yet Jesus prayed, “Father, glorify Your name,” and the voice from heaven responded, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.” God is never late, never surprised, and never overmatched.
So I do pray with you. I ask God to preserve the Western world from any system that would suppress the truth, deny His Son, and lead multitudes away. But I pray this way not in panic, but with the settled confidence of the empty tomb. Our cry is that the Holy Spirit would continue His work of glorifying Jesus, opening blind eyes, and turning sinners from darkness to light. The real battle is not against flesh and blood, and the victory is not won by political might. It is won as the gospel goes forth and God grants eternal life to all who believe in Christ.
Let us seek the honor that comes only from God, not looking to men or trembling before earthly prognoses. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. In Him, peace with God has been made for all who were once at war with Him. I pray that many now deceived would hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and come into the kingdom that cannot be shaken. God will glorify His Son, and He will do it in His own way and time. Until then, we rest in His sovereign care, confident that the testimony of Jesus is sure, and that our labor in prayer is never in vain.
