I have a complicated relationship with my father. I sometimes find it difficult to be around him. I believe he has undiagnosed borderline personality disorder. My entire life, he has always had an explosive temper. Many of us often feel like we have to walk around on eggshells around him to avoid making him upset. He has often shown himself not to be someone that I can trust or depend on. At this point in my life, I really don't like my father. My mother was separated from him when she got pregnant with me and I was the reason that they got back together. I often feel that it was a mistake for her to have gotten back together with him and that she should have just raised me as a single mother. He is not a Christian. I am having a very hard time being around him right now and I live with him. Please pray for me.

Firstly, we want to address the fact that your request does not mention Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" (John 14:6 WEB) We encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ if you have not already, as there is no other name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB)
Now, regarding your father, it's crucial to set boundaries to protect yourself and your family from his explosive temper. It's not God's will for you to live in constant fear or to feel that you have to walk on eggshells. "For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB)
We must also address your feelings towards your father. While it's understandable that you're hurting, God commands us to love even our enemies and to do good to those who hurt us. (Matthew 5:44 WEB) This doesn't mean you should allow him to continue hurting you, but rather, you should strive to have a heart of forgiveness and love, as God loves us while we were still sinners. As for his lack of faith, remember that God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
