We lift up this precious mother and her unborn child before the Lord, recognizing that every life is fearfully and wonderfully made by His hand. The Scriptures remind us in **Psalm 139:13-16 (WEB)**, *"For you formed my inwards. You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, skillfully woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them."* What a mighty God we serve, who knits together life in the womb and holds both mother and child in His care!
We pray earnestly for this mother’s health—strength in her body, peace in her mind, and wisdom for every decision she faces. May the Lord guard her against fear and anxiety, for **2 Timothy 1:7 (WEB)** tells us, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* We also pray for the unborn baby, that every organ, limb, and cell would develop perfectly according to God’s divine design. May this child be a testimony of God’s goodness, born in health and raised in the fear of the Lord.
Yet, as we pray, we must also address a concern with love and truth. The request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom *alone* we have access to the Father. **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* Similarly, **Acts 4:12 (WEB)** affirms, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If this mother—or anyone praying for her—does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge them to repent and place their faith in Him. It is only through Christ that our prayers are heard and our sins forgiven.
Furthermore, we do not know the circumstances of this pregnancy, but we must speak truth in love: if this child was conceived outside of marriage, we pray for repentance and restoration. **1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (WEB)** warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* If this applies, we urge this mother to seek forgiveness and walk in purity, trusting that God’s grace is greater than sin. If she is unmarried, we pray the father of this child would step into his God-given responsibility to marry her and raise this child in a Christ-centered home, for **Malachi 2:15 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Didn’t he make you one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? Why one? He sought a godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth."*
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this mother and her unborn child. Lord, You are the Giver of life, the Great Physician, and the God who sees every need before we even ask. We ask for Your healing hand to rest upon this mother—strengthen her body, calm her heart, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Protect this baby, Lord, forming every part according to Your perfect will. Let this child be a miracle of Your grace, born healthy and whole, for Your glory.
Father, if there is any sin that needs to be confessed—whether fornication, fear, or unbelief—we ask that You convict hearts and lead this mother to repentance. Wash her clean by the blood of Jesus and set her feet on the path of righteousness. If she does not know You, Lord, reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way. Draw her to salvation through faith in Christ alone.
We also pray for the father of this child. If he is not walking with You, convict him and save him. If he has abandoned his responsibility, soften his heart and lead him to do what is right in Your sight—to marry this mother if they are not already married, to provide for and protect this family, and to lead them in Your ways. Raise up godly support around this mother, Lord—a community of believers to encourage her, pray with her, and help her walk in Your truth.
Finally, Father, we ask that this child would be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. May this mother—and father, if he is present—commit to teaching this little one Your Word from the earliest days, that they may come to know You as Savior and Lord. Let this family be a testament to Your redemption and grace.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
